National Veterans Month: Honoring Our Heroes
November is National Veterans Month and is dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces . This month-long observance recognizes the sacrifices of veterans and their families, offering a chance to express gratitude for their selfless service to our nation.
The roots of Veterans Day can be traced back to Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I on November 11, 1918. In 1954, US Congress changed the name to Veterans Day to honor all American veterans.
National Veterans Month was established to expand this recognition beyond a single day. It allows for a more comprehensive celebration of their contributions, sacrifices, and the challenges they may face upon returning to civilian life.
A veteran is anyone who has honorably served in the U.S. Armed Forces. These brave individuals sacrifice personal freedoms, safety, and home comforts. They endure challenging conditions and dangerous missions, demonstrating a selfless dedication to their country.
