National Spice of Nepal

National Spice of Nepal

Timur | Sichuan Pepper | Timur berry

?I love to called it, national spice of Nepal.

It is very unique spices we generally find in Himalayan reason of Nepal. But very popular in all region of Nepal, Himalayan , Mountain and Terrain and with 128 communities of Nepal.

Roasted cumin for Punjabi, curry leaves for south Indian and Timur for Nepalese , it is kind of our spice identity. We use most of curries, Lentil and achar.

I filled in my hand paper filled instead of Black pepper so I have not salt and pepper as I have salt and Timur at my home in London,

It is part of most famous momo chutney.

It is also most electric spice on the earth because of tingling taste.

Sichuan peppercorns operate in a similar way.?A compound found in Sichuan peppercorns called hydroxy-alpha-sanshool, like capsaicin, binds to receptors in your tongue, convincing your brain of a “tingly” sensation.

I have few nostalgic foods from my childhood where my mum used to make very quick wet salt with garlic, green chilli or red chilli?and sometime both.

We used to eat mostly local, seasonal or preserved food. Green chilli also seasonal in our time

When the small berries are dried an inner hard black seed pops out and the outer husks flares out and appears as a vibrant budding flower.

She normally used to serve with Cucumber slices, boiled milked young ?corned , steam edamame.

My mum used to called Thebe

100 gm salt

6 gm green chilli

4 gm red chilli dry

2 gm Timur

5 gm of garlic

Grind together to make salty paste

Wow! my mouth is watering! who care with raw garlic!

Health benefit

Timur contains essential minerals such as phosphorous, manganese, copper and iron which are necessary to strengthen bones and help prevent age-related conditions such as osteoporosis.

Timur can stimulate the immune system, to reduce pain, boost appetite, increase blood circulation, strengthen bones, and reduce inflammation. Helps stimulate circulation: If you are feeling lethargic, lightheaded, and weak, it is possible that you may be suffering from anaemia due to iron deficiency.

Enjoy
