National Space Day in India (23 August) - School Assembly Plan

The Indian Government has declared 23 August as National Space Day in India in 2023. This year is India’s first National Space Day.

National Space Day in India commemorates the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon. On 23 August 2023, the Indian Space Research Organisation reached a significant milestone by successfully landing Chandrayaan-3's lander and rover on the Moon. With this, India became the fourth country to land on the Moon and the first to land near the southern polar region of the Moon. The soft-landing was followed by successful deployment of Pragyan Rover.

Recognizing this achievement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proclaimed August 23 as "National Space Day" in India. The successful gentle touchdown of the Vikram lander, following a setback in 2019 when the Chandrayaan -2 mission failed, ignited a wave of joy and celebration throughout the nation. The outcome of the mission will benefit mankind in years to come.? To embody the spirit of the nation’s space achievements, the day will be celebrated every year on 23rd August with a lot of enthusiasm and zeal throughout the country.

Three days after the success of Chandrayaan-3 mission, on 26th August 2023, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi announced that the Chandrayaan-3 landing site will be called ‘Shiv-Shakti’, the name was approved almost seven months later by International Astronomical Union (IAU)

The purpose of this assembly is to celebrate National Space Day and inspire students by highlighting India's achievements in space exploration. Through the engaging story of Aryan and his friends, the assembly aims to educate students about the Chandrayaan-3 mission and the remarkable work of ISRO scientists. Mysterious explorations are showcased through the assembly based on the theme ‘Mission Moon: India's Historic Leap’.?

By highlighting the dedication and innovation of modern Indian scientists and fostering a sense of curiosity and excitement about space, the assembly seeks to motivate young minds to pursue interests in science, technology, and space exploration.

Schools of any country can use this plan. The schools can conduct it for a grade or few grades from Class 1 to 10.

Hello Nishita,I'm 78 yrars old and even though I would love to work with you I can't as I'm not as efficient as I would like to be with old age related conditions. So I'm leading a passive life travelling between my children's homes, reading and rarely stepping out of the comfort of home.I wish I could coax myself but I know that I don't want to be a burden on anyone. Thank you for your interest!! God bless you! Lucy Kurian.
