National resilience receives major boost as new training centre unveiled in Merseyside...
Emergency Services Times
For the latest news and information on all emergency services.
Hi Reader,
I’m a big fan of Liverpool and I didn’t need much persuasion to go north and attend the opening ceremony for the new National Resilience Centre of Excellence. There was a great turn out of chiefs and even the new Fire Minister was there on her first official fire visit. For me, it was a blast from the past as 20 years ago I was a civil servant working on the New Dimension programme that saw £200m invested in resilience kit after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Find out more in my write up below.
Resilience comes up elsewhere in this week’s digest as Ofcom hit BT with a £17.5m fine for the 10 hour outage to the 999 service last year. Even with the 30 per cent discount for admitting liability and cooperating, this is a big fine and a salient lesson for all organisations to be prepared because you never know when the worst might happen.
