National Research Foundation (A Grand Vision of Narendra Modi)

(The formation of National Research Foundation is a step taken at a right time and the vision & mission of this ambitious initiative are with complete focus on improving the quality of research in all the areas and supporting research with adequate allocation of funds and dedicated support by the government but with strict monitoring and timely hand holding & intervention if needed. An allocation of Rupees 50,000 Cr is a huge amount and it is additional as funding for the Semiconductor Mission of India, AI Mission, Blockchain, Quantum Computing, Drones / UAVs, robotics, nano technology, and for many other areas of emerging technologies have already been done. The needed support for innovation through Atal Tinkering Labs is already in place and doing a great push. India has improved its ranking by forty points to 45 in Global Innovation Index.

It is a time where India has to lead the world in quality research especially in the areas of emerging technologies so that the nation pursuit for self-reliance and becoming a developed nation by 2047, India@100 are realised in totality and without missing this target. India in high-tech electronics & control systems for the weapons systems such as various types of state of art missiles, for ships & submarines control systems, for its aviation sector especially for indigenous combat aircraft Tejas & Dhruva Helicopters and for the space & many other areas is importing so far though many transfer of technology MoUs are signed so that like mobile phone manufacturing these systems as high lighted are designed and manufactured in India. India is biggest pool of youngest population and that needs to be oriented towards basic research as well as in hight tech areas. The patient that are registered by India have multiplied in last 03-04 years amazingly and according quality research papers are also published. But a lot needs to be achieved and formation of NRF is in that direction is an ambitious initiative. I wish NRF a great success in times ahead.???

I had an opportunity to carry out research work at Aligarh Muslim University(AMU) & IIT kanpur during my M.Phil in Physics from Apr 1980-Nov 1982, and at TIFR,IGCAR Kalpakkam, BARC Mumbai,Tarapur Atomic Power Station and at Ddefence Laboratory Jodhpur and I must submit that India standard of reaserch declined specially in basis reasearch. So, formation of NRF shall boost research and attarct talent to carry out dedicated rresearch in emerging technolgy areas besides basic research.
