National Nurses Week Celebrates the Essential Role of Nurses in Healthcare

By Sophie Lamisere , RN

Vice President, Population Health & Clinical Operations at Fidelis Care

Nursing is often called a noble profession because of the impact nurses have on others.?What is so often missed is that for many nurses, the nobility comes from how rewarding it is to play such an integral role in a person’s life during a vulnerable, stressful time.

Across the nursing field, nurses are there making a difference, each and every day. They touch the lives of our members and so many others.

At Fidelis Care, a core offering to our members is case management support. This means that members have access to a team of healthcare professionals who can advocate, educate, coordinate, and help them navigate the complexities of the healthcare system.

As the Vice President of Population Health & Clinical Operations, I have the distinct honor to work with a team of healthcare professionals that include nurses, social workers, therapists, and administrative staff responsible for providing holistic care to our members. We understand the importance of considering the physical, mental, emotional, and social needs of people to best help them.

To achieve quality health outcomes for our members, nurses, as well as social workers, create a unique and special relationship that is built on compassion, empathy, and trust. Nurses’ vital role in improving health outcomes and enhancing the overall quality of care can only be done by “humanizing” the health care experience.

I am proud to work with a team that remembers we do our best work when we treat each person with kindness, care, and understanding.

Thank you to all of the nurses who care for our community!
