National Nurses Week Day 4: APRN (Part 2)

Happy National Nurses Week! Today is the second part of our spotlight on Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN). These nurses receive advanced training in the nursing sciences. The first two specialty APRN roles we highlighted were nurse practitioner and certified nurse-midwife.

  • Today, we begin with advanced practice clinical nurse specialists (CNS). These nurses have clinical specialty expertise, and combine direct patient care with work at the systems or organization level.

  • Finally, advanced practice certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA) administer anesthesia and other medications, in addition to caring for and monitoring patients receiving or recovering from anesthesia.

According to the Florida Center for Nursing's 2023 report "The State of the Nursing Workforce in Florida," there are 45,181 active APRN licenses in Florida. The median age of APRNs in the state was 45 years, and 31.5% are between the ages of 30 and 39.
