National Inclusion Week 2023

National Inclusion Week 2023

This week is National Inclusion Week 2023. The theme this year is ‘Take Action Make Impact’, a call to action for all in an organisation, from leaders, to EDI professionals – teams and individuals.

It is easy to take retrospective action when something goes wrong, particularly when it comes to incidences of discrimination. We are here to champion taking action to make positive impact, rather than using EDI training and support only when mistakes are made.

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training offer is something we are extremely proud of here at Yellowday. We can provide training and workshops in the following areas, tailored to policies and procedures within your organisation:

  • Equality and Diversity
  • Inclusive Language
  • Neurodiversity in the Workplace
  • Disability Awareness
  • Unconscious Bias
  • Inclusive Recruitment
  • Employment Law for Managers

We have supported many of our customers on their journey to becoming a more inclusive workplace and receive positive feedback time and time again:

“I gained more awareness of language and the confidence to question others and myself on terminology I hear or read.”

“A very interesting and thought-provoking training session. The trainer had excellent knowledge of the subject area and the programme was relaxed but felt informative.”

“The training was an update and broadening of my knowledge and understanding. It made me think about how I phrase descriptions and references to or about others. I feel more confident in what I am saying with the aim of being inclusive and not causing unintended offence or exclusion.”

If you would like to find out more about how we can help your organisation in building a bespoke training offer for your staff, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

We also would love to invite you or your colleagues to attend one of our upcoming online open courses. Keep scrolling to find out more about the events we have coming up soon:

Inclusive Language

Tuesday 17th October 2023, 9.30am - 12.30pm

£140 + VAT per person

This half-day Inclusive Language training course is aimed at anyone that wants or needs to improve their awareness of how language evolves when it comes to talking to and about other people. It is well suited to those that work with the public, but is absolutely relevant to staff working at any level in an organisation from ground level to managers and senior leadership.

We live in a world where language changes quickly. Between conversations about being inclusive and worries about political correctness, many of us are concerned, confused or challenged by knowing what they can say without causing offense.

This course looks at some of the words and phrases that people use and looks at how they evolved to become preferred terms. It also explores some different ways of thinking about language when considering how to refer to different groups of people, so that anyone can speak and write without worry.

  • Accepting that people’s brains work differently – and how that is beneficial to the workplace and society
  • Neurodiversity can be a disability – but people might not want the label
  • Neurodivergent conditions (a brief introduction to what they are and what the impact can be)
  • Executive functions skills – how these differ in neurodivergent people who a manager might be responsible for

Making adjustments in the workplace – person, environment, work provided etc.

Please get in touch now to book your place on one of our online open courses!
