National HVAC Tech Day - Meet David Sisco, HVAC field supervisor
Q: What does the Day in the life of an HVAC field supervisor look like?
A: “So, a typical day in the life of an HVAC field supervisor involves supporting a team of HVAC technicians who are based all over the city.
However, every day is not the same. On some days, we could be dealing with our own service and client calls, or we could be on-site with a technician helping out with strenuous and difficult tasks. We try and provide as much support as we can to the technicians and also help balance field work and office work. We ensure that all technicians complete safe work plans as safety is our main goal.”
Q: How many field techs and supervisors do we have so far?
A: “On the service side we have 2 field supervisors, Blair McConnell and myself. We have two teams of technicians. I have 20 years of experience and Blair has 28 years.”
Q: What is the most rewarding aspect of this role?
A: “I am a people person. I enjoy working with the clients, other supervisors, and technicians. We have a great manager who is very easy to talk to and helps with the issues that can arise with the job. I enjoy the added responsibility to try and help further my career in the industry.”
Q: What advice would you give to employees who aspire to this role?
A: “Treat the technicians as you would like to be treated. Help the technicians come out of their comfort zone. Work through the fear zone and get them into the learning zone.”
That’s a great insight! Congrats ??
