Welcome to a special Back-to-School edition of NFC's monthly newsletter. As colleges and school districts around the country head back to the classroom, we're spotlighting some incredible campaign partners who are prioritizing wellness on campus and within their communities.
Leading the Charge in Kentucky
When John Lovell from Muhlenberg County Public Schools heard about the National Fitness Campaign from his friend in Panama City, FL who loved working out on their local Fitness Court?, he started to research more about the process of bringing the campaign to Muhlenberg County.In working alongside NFC's team from the first meeting to the ribbon cutting, John shares how the Mustangs built consensus to become the first High School partner in Kentucky.?His best advice for other communities and schools interested in learning more about the campaign? Don't be afraid to ask for help. He adds, “There are numerous grants and organizations that would love to partner for the betterment of their community.”
Campus Champion Spotlights
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign: As the first higher education partner in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois campaign, the Fitness Court Studio is accessible to 65,000 students, faculty and staff and within 10 minutes of 48,211 local residents. Read the full spotlight.
University of Charleston: "This Fitness Court?is a fantastic addition to the University of Charleston and the entire Charleston community," said Senator Joe Manchin III. Education campaign partners receive exclusive support, programming and services that go beyond the Fitness Court. From PE and academic curriculum to fitness programming and health and wellness challenges, the NFC initiative is designed to engage students, faculty and staff for decades.

Breaking ThoseBack-to-School Blues
We don't think it's a coincidence that National Wellness Month falls during the same time that students head back to school. Kutztown University and Kutztown Community Partnership:?This vibrant Pennsylvania campus community continues to stacking up the awards?for their collaborative work at the Keith Haring Fitness Court. Embedded into the curriculum, the Keith Haring Fitness Court?has received a statewide award?along with a coveted Greater Reading Chamber Alliance award. Activation continues with the second Annual Keith Haring Day (pictured above)?with college students leading demonstrations for community members and local high-schoolers. Oakland University (OU):?August 2024's?Rec of the Month for Campus Recreation Magazine goes to one NFC's first campus partners.
