National Data Privacy Day
Data privacy is a basic tenet of modern society. At Ancor, we strive to build relationships with our clients through a proven demonstration of controlling, managing and protecting the privacy of their data. In order to protect data, develop robust controls and deploy proper risk mitigation, an organization must identify the core objectives of data protection and privacy. No matter the client, corporate entity or consumer, the core objectives are:
1. The protection of confidentiality,
2. Safeguarding the integrity of the data
3. Controlling the availability of the data.
Once identified, these core objectives are used to develop security policies that consist of administrative, technical and physical control objectives. Over the past 35 years, Ancor has honed these three control objectives to deliver flawless execution of data privacy. Successfully implementing the following three controls is the reason Ancor has become known for its commitment to data privacy and earned the confidence of our clients.
Manage & Identify Risk
Proper data privacy and protection require risk assessment, risk treatment and risk mitigation. Ancor is a proponent of robust risk assessment to prevent or mitigate data privacy breaches. Proper prevention and mitigation can be achieved through identifying technical and non-technical vulnerabilities. Ancor has implemented regular third-party penetration and vulnerability scans and third-party audits to aid our technological controls and assess identifiable vulnerabilities that could threaten our systems and client data.
Technical Controls
Ancor employs a suite of technical controls throughout its network to safeguard data privacy. The controls include secured physical access, robust firewall policies, secured data transmission (SFTP), virtual private networks, and data encryption in transit and at rest.
Communication
Communication is key to protecting data privacy. Proper communication places the right information into the minds of your most valuable assets: your employees. Employees are in the forefront of controlling the technology, protecting the physical environment and, most importantly, assessing threats. Communication through training and education goes a long way in preventing simple threats to data privacy.
In observance of National Data Privacy Day, please join organizations around the world to pause and assess the risks we all face, and to make a commitment to improve data security for all!
