National Apprenticeship Week - Meet Lenka

As we celebrate #NationalApprenticeshipWeek, we want to shine a spotlight on some of our #brilliant apprentices - including our assistant head concierge, Lenka Zimova .

Here's a quick Q&A to get to know her, and find out more about her apprenticeship journey at Anabas Welcome.

What apprenticeship did you complete?

I was offered the opportunity to join The Apprenticeship College and enrol onto a Level 3 CMI certificate in Leadership and Supervision.

Emma Lambert , employee experience manager at Anabas , recommended this course to me, and I am very thankful to her for being able to have this experience.

Why did you choose this qualification and decide to complete an apprenticeship?

I chose this qualification because I love working in teams, and I thrive on challenges. When this opportunity arose I wanted to learn more about myself as a leader as well as how to develop and encourage the team around me.

Did you enjoy your studies? Were there challenges?

I don't even know where to start - I loved it!

I met so many different people from all kinds of backgrounds and working experiences as well as my work colleagues too. The classes were very interactive and I was able to learn and develop personally.

To be honest, I was a little worried about studying online, but this exceeded my expectations in a very nice and positive way. The class structures were amazing and it wasn't monotonous. I took part in individual workshops, group class exercises, and amazing life skills coaching sessions. All the while I was fully supported by a person from the college to keep me on track.

Do you feel that this apprenticeship has strengthened your skills for your current role?

Definitely yes, I have learned a lot during our classes and had plenty of time to practice what I was learning as I am part of quite a large team.

While studying, I got promoted so my role changed, and the course skills were strongly put to task. One specific workshop was about managing people, and it helped support my responsibilities in my new role.

What are your next steps?

I want to continue improving and working on my personal development to be the leader my team acquire. There is always a lot to learn, and always room for improvement.

I want to work more on how to develop the team and enable them to progress. I have a great head concierge in my team who has lots of experience in various industries and if I can learn and draw some of his knowledge I would be happy.

My main goal is to be authentic, empathetic, and adaptable to be able to accomplish anything that can be thrown at me, not just professionally but personally as well.??
