NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a grassroots organization of individuals with mental illnesses, especially serious mental illnesses, their family members, and friends whose mission is to advocate for effective prevention, diagnosis, treatment, support, research and recovery that improves the quality of life of persons of all ages who are affected by mental illnesses. Hackie and Sandra discuss the NAMI mission, how the alliance works in communities to raise aware around mental health issues, and gives advice on how everyone can work to end stigma.

5 年The first way to end the stigma is the complete cessation of groups like NAMI & the entire pseudoscience of psychiatry which functions today as if it were a real, physical science. Until then- all members of NAMI are wildly uneducated and doing more harm than good to those who partake in their programs.
