The SKM Technical Working Group Meeting and Workshop for the Third Quarter of 2023 took place in Uyo over a period of three days with the objective of gathering updates and performance reports on key indicators from stakeholders who are implementing HIV programs.

In attendance were various members, including DoD, Society for Family Health Nigeria , APIN Public Health Initiatives , PHIS3 Nigeria, Heartland Alliance Nigeria, UNAIDS Nigeria, ECEWS Ltd/Gte , @Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN), IHV-Nigeria , Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Federal Ministry of Education, and State SACAs (Edo, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom).

The key issues addressed were the shortfall in Nigeria's HIV prevention and support indicators, data unavailability for certain indicators, and discrepancies between partners and SACA data submissions.

Dr. Uduak Essien, also from the AIDS control agency presented the need for tool revision to include mental health, PreP, transgender, and GBV indicators. The revised tools were deployed after pre-testing, validation exercises, and advocacy meetings in 20 states.

The second day featured a detailed presentation by Kufre Ndueso of the West African Centre for Public Health and Development/University of Manitoba on the 2022 KPSE in Nigeria, sparking discussions on data usage and funding sources.

The TWG meeting served as a platform to evaluate HIV programs and strategize for future improvements, promoting collaboration among stakeholders, and action plans were set for routine monitoring and priorities for Q4 TWG 2023.

We look forward to continued collaboration and progress in tackling HIV programs in Nigeria.
