Vinicius Mendon?a Lima Degrave was the top student in Ship Handling at CIAGA, the Rio de Janeiro Merchant Marine Academy. He received the `Tug Use in Port’ award from the hands of Captain Francisco Gondar, Brazilian IMO ambassador.
Jo?o Victor Anselmo de Oliveira received the `Tug Use in Port’ award from the hands of Captain Ricardo Monteiro, teacher and paranymph, for being the brightest student in Ship Handling at CIABA, Belém Merchant Marine Academy.
Thew award. Brazil has 36 principal ports. Ship handling in these ports require many professional pilots, well trained tug masters and suitable tugs. Even in the numerous small ports, pilots, tug masters and tugs will often be needed.
To stimulate Brazilian nautical students in acquiring the best possible knowledge about safe and efficient ship handling with tugs, Captain Henk Hensen from The Netherlands and Captain Plinio Calenzo from Brazil introduced the # `Tug Use in Port’ award for the brightest student of this subject. The award consists of a pair of binoculars and a copy of the Brazilian version of the book `Tug Use in Port.’
