Nate's Top 10 Things To Love About Working at WellSpan Park
This August marks my 10-year anniversary as VP of Business Development for the York Revolution.?Working in sports, particularly minor-league baseball, can be a grind. We spend a lot of time at the “office” away from family and friends, doing odd jobs in the hot sun and working long hours. But working in sports has its perks. On my 10-year work anniversary, I’d like to share my top 10 with you in no particular order.
1.??????I love meeting new people and connecting with our loyal season members. The fans at WellSpan Park are the best, and I’ve enjoyed so many fun conversations with you all over the years.
2.??????My front-office co-workers are the hardest working people you will ever meet. I’m not gonna name names, but I’ll often find co-workers here early in the morning working on a new promotion after leaving the ballpark at 11 p.m. the night before. Everyone strives to make each game a “Best Day Ever” and to take care of our fans, hospitality customers, season members, and advertising partners.
3.??????Sometimes I get to meet my sports heroes. It doesn’t happen every day, but I can guarantee you it wouldn’t happen at any other job. This year, I had the pleasure of meeting Daniel Murphy (former New York Met) when he was here with the Long Island Ducks, and a few years back I met Darryl Strawberry as our celebrity for Faith Night. I’m a Mets fan ?
4.??????My kids are grown now and they don’t think this job is as cool as they once did, but when they come to hang with me at a game it makes the night even better.
5.??????I’m proud to be a part of an organization that strives to be the “Most Welcoming Place in York”. From Ritmo De York to Pride Night and Sensory Friendly certification, we don’t just talk the talk, we walk it, too.

6.??????Best Days Ever! There’s nothing more fulfilling than to hear a kid on the way out say “Dad, this was the best day ever”!
7.??????Our event staff is top notch and so much fun. These are the unsung heroes who scan your ticket, show you to your seat, direct you to your parking spot, and keep the paper towels stocked in the restroom. Some of these folks have been here for all 16 seasons. I enjoy chatting with them each summer.
8.??????I’ve been in advertising sales for over 20 years, and I LOVE coming up with wacky and fun ideas to help promote our sponsors. Whether it’s a creative on-field game, a funny theme night, or a cool giveaway, there’s nothing better than using your imagination on the job. There’s nothing better than hearing our fans say, “What will they think of next?”
9.??????The Revolution and WellSpan Park are a community hub. We raise a ton of money every year for local non-profits, including this year’s season partner, Give Local York. We also raise money and create a place for groups like churches and youth sports teams to come together. WellSpan Park is truly a place for community.
10.??There’s always something new on the horizon. In my time here, we’ve revamped our picnic area, installed a new HD display at center field, built the Planet Fitness Diamond Deck, and created the 1741 Club presented by UPMC. I’m always looking forward to being a part of our next innovation.????????????

1 年Nate, you are a lucky and an amazing guy. As the son of the greatest Little League coach in history, your dad managed a thriving dynasty in Lee's Drive In, I'm sure there was a lot of pressure to perform. Love seeing you day in and day out on this platform. The Revolution is everything that is awesome about baseball: fiercely independent, competitive, fun, and community building. Nate, you are literally George Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life. You are giving professional athletes one last shot at being a kid and playing the game they love. You provide great jobs to junior marketing/communication majors. You provide a great affordable product to families in York. And you are doing it in a business that is nearly impossible to be profitable. Amazing! The York Revolution franchise took a struggling neighborhood in York County and has made it a gemstone. Thanks for all you've done old friend! You deserve a large cone with sprinkles!
