Natalism and .... grants??
New DOT grant and loan programs are now supposed to prioritize projects in “communities with marriage and birthrates higher than the national average,” to the extent allowed by law. DOT has now pulled at least one discretionary grant right before the submission deadline. Is that so it can scrub out criterion involving countering social vulnerability and transportation insecurity? Or to require information about family size? Or both?
Natalism, also called a pro-birth position, is a policy paradigm that advocates high birthrate for a variety of reasons, many of them dark. It's been in the news for the last few years. Believe it or not, I first published about fertility declines July 6, 2023: https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/fertility-declines-why-we-care-beth-kujan/
It's not my typical subject. My #techstevedore brand is all about science and technology plus getting work done expeditiously. However, I'm involved in workforce development because of the importance of talent in innovation and the fast pace of automation/IOT/etc.
Rewarding high birthrate is a pro-family position and tips Republican. Rewarding marriage, which you'd think would be considered pro-family, does not correlate well to politics. Odd eh?
