I hope you all had a fantastic break over the Christmas and New Year. For many here in Australia the holiday season was one we will never forget for all of the wrong reasons. The reality is that the fires have been burning since September and they continue to wreak havoc as the worst in recorded history. Our thoughts, love and condolences go out to all of you who have been personally affected by the fires. Our hearts go out to the staggering 1 billion animals are now estimated dead in Australia’s fires. Finally, a big thank you to the firies in Australia and all over the world who have bravely defended our land.
So today, I am launching season two of the Decoding Purpose Podcast and well before any fires started at the end of last year, I decided to theme this year's podcast around ‘Turning Points’. Little did I realise at the time that Australia was about to face one of the most significant turning points in recorded history. A turning point related to a planetary tipping point - and a tipping point that is related to every little decision we make as individuals every day.
So today we will be diving into the theme for 2020 and decoding why Turning points are so significant in a journey of purpose. I will be sharing my thoughts, my ideas and the big questions I have pondered upon with regards to why purpose is so often found in crises and how we can embrace by choice rather than crises.
In the second half of the podcast I will also be interviewing Natalie Dean-Weymark.
Nat and her husband Luke are the cofounders of compass creative. They are also partners in business and life, with a combined marketing and PR career of over 20 years. Like so many purpose-driven entrepreneurs these loved their work but felt something was missing. Their turning point - a holiday that gave them time to reflect on the contribution they wanted to make in the world. As a result, the Compass Creative studio was born.
Compass is a boutique Marketing and PR consultancy that is trying to do things differently. They work only with brands they love, and have made an intentional decision to do good work, for brands that do good in the world.
In today's conversation with Nat we explored.
- The art of purpose-driven pr.
- How to create authentic brand connections.
- The art of purpose-driven storytelling
- How to get brand activism right...and so much more.
So, grab your coffee, or if your like anything like me and on a post-holiday cleanse - then grab your detox tea and get ready for episode one - season two. Decoding Purpose - The Turning Point. Welcome to the podcast.
