On January 15, Texas-based Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost released NASA’s payload LISTER, which stands for Subsurface Thermal Exploration with Rapidity. Studying the moon’s internal heat flow should shed some light on its ancient past. ?

LISTER’s innovative pneumatic drill is set to drill three meters below the lunar surface. We don’t know how the moon formed, and its heat flow might also hold clues about its habitability. ?

The data it will collect “is important for the future of NASA’s Artemis campaign as a pathfinder to demonstrate capabilities before we send humans to the lunar surface,Mike Selby, a?lunar payloads manager with NASA, told IE.??Must-Reads.

Through algorithmic innovations, DeepSeek proved that China can partially work around US sanctions on high-end chips. Its exponential rise has opened up new possibilities for AI developers.

DeepSeek deviated from the traditional path of massive computing power and hardware advantages favored by US giants like OpenAI, Google, and Meta. Its combination of a smaller model (with fewer parameters), low computational demands, and strong algorithms could spark widespread emulation by similarly resource-strapped developers.

But will DeepSeek be a game changer, or will it lead to fewer differences between US AI leaders and Chinese rivals? Mutual learning is inevitable.?(Read More)
