NASA to Send Humans to Mars

TechGenez.com -- Someday in the future, NASA will send four people on a mission to Mars. Two of them land on the surface and live in a pressurized rover while conducting science operations for 30 days. The other two astronauts remain in orbit. Watch Video for more details.....??

I doubt it is possible to power a 30 day mission for 2 people on the surface unless this is a really big lander with a 30 day battery or fuel. Getting such a large craft to the surface will be challenging given the amount of fuel required to slow such a large craft and also fuel for the return to orbit. Maintaining pressure will be challenging if you want to do much exploration on the surface. If the lander is mobile then it will be very heavy to drive around again fuel and power issues. The amount of equipment to maintain heat and recycle water and atmosphere again adds weight. This does explain the minimal personnel. Two people reduces weight but also increases the multi skill essential to run and maintain a mobile habitat. But pioneers need to take risks I hope there are backup systems but in endeavours that involve weight backups are always a luxury that scientists rarely think they need.
