Monday, you look marvelous. A Billy Crystal reference. We saw Billy when we attended a live taping of the David Letterman show. He and Sheryl Crow were the guests; we’ve seen Sheryl a couple of times, the thing I remember about Dave’s show it was cold.  Years later, whilst in Nashville, I recognized Sheryl’s bass player walking out of local music joint; who knows the bass player in Sheryl Crow’s band, this guy.

A great day yesterday; we drove to a park and met our son, wife, and kid.  Maylynn Marie is a treasure, it took her a hot minute, but she eventually warmed up to us and PVHT. PVHT ran so hard she came home and passed out; we headed to the Dugout to meet our neighbors and celebrate Uncle Richards’s 85th birthday. The man is 85 but acts like he is 14. We had a drink, then jumped on a pickled peddler and cruised downtown indy.

We left there and headed to a local joint; I had a minor altercation with a mask nazi. I explained that I was vaccinated, I didn’t need to wear a face covering, but he was having no part of my nonsense; we eventually agreed to a truce. I was in the wrong; I owned it, moving on.

A busy day today; we’ve got out coaching call with our business coach, a review meeting with our accountant; we are choosing these days to work on the company. If business owners spent more time working on than in their own firms, they would be much more successful.

So how are you feeling today? Are you enjoying the $3.00 gas prices, the rising cost of goods, the war in the middle east? I remember when my son called me after getting his first paycheck, and he said, “Dad, do you have any idea how much they take in taxes?” I replied, “Son, welcome to the Republican Party.”

The powers that be want to steal our money, the hard work we invest in providing to others that choose not to work. It’s a broken system that needs some attention, but let’s tread water for a couple of years and let the tides turn red.  They will, you know; you can’t go woke for long, the people will eventually revolt.

Revolution baby, the Beatles are back, more vital than ever. Don’t bring me down, you say, if you have not learned anything, I’m am the Walrus.  Words, just words, collected together to produce a theme, a narrative to share where my mind is at this exact moment. I should share I’m drinking from a Chewbacca coffee cup a gift from my daughter. My daughter likes to buy me coffee cups; she knows my passion for the dark arts of water mixed with beans.

I think we’re back to pre-pandemic days; we enjoyed a live band, a swing band at the Dugout. There were about 200 people there, nary a mask to be worn. I want to bring back the word nary, not too many people use nary, can you do me a solid and use the word nary today? The world needs two things, more cowbell and use of the word nary.

It’s Monday, how will you spend your week? Will you kill it or be killed? I’m planning on destroying it, working hard, to cover my tax liability. Just in from the Washington Post, “Child cash benefits from the stimulus will begin landing in the millions of parents bank accounts July 15th, treasury dept says. Here’s a question, where does that money come from?

We listened to a podcast yesterday with an economist; he dismissed the idea that the reason we don’t have a solid workforce is due to the “corporations not paying their employees enough.”  Let’s see, give people money not to work and then blame the corporations. I think many in the media do not understand the concept that corporations are small businesses. Amazon, Google, and Facebook are corporations, but so is the Thompson Group; lumping us all in the same basket is misleading at best. We are not the enemy; we are the solution.

Oh well, it is what it is, and I’m just here reporting on what I see. Do you see it? Am I on an ideological island, or do you see where we are headed? Thankfully the world is a pendulum, and it moves left to right. Currently, the pendulum is swinging wide left, but in time it will come back; just wait; it’s inevitable.  Thankfully I was taught patience as a young man; I’ll wait and watch, I’ve got popcorn.

My wife is up; she’s in the kitchen, doing wife things.  Soon we will both get showered and start our day; I look forward to the seconds, minutes, and hours that await when you live with a Queen; life is royal.

Well, enough soup, I must tend to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Be good, be kind, be the kind of person you aspire to be. If you are not living your best life, it’s on you. You can’t blame others; ultimately, you control yourself; blaming others is in lousy form. The world needs more critical thinking and personal responsibility, there take that lozenge of thought and suck on it.

I see it loud and clear. Old enough to remember economic lessons of our history. Too many have no frame of reference to policy results. Walking by faith and not by sight.
