Narrowing the path of Virtual Reality, Fashion meets Virtual Reality with Alona Fischbein ( FashionTV )

In our Virtual Reality Expert Series we bring you in this tenth episode the expert view by Alona Fischbein , director at FashionTV

FashionTV ( FTV ) is an international fashion and lifestyle television channel, founded in France in 1997 by Michel Adam Lisowsk. Directly from the fashion capitals of the world, FashionTV broadcasts the full spectrum of the latest and newest fashion trends. FashionTV also focuses on fashion icons such as Hollywood stars, celebrities, jet-setters and, of course, super models and designers.

But FashionTV is more than a channel, it's a lifestyle. The community of FTV viewers is considered the most luxurious, glamorous and fashion-oriented target group among all media consumers, who not only love to watch the fashionable lifestyle on TV, but they also enjoy living it. As a result, FashionTV branded products, locations (F Clubs, F Bars, etc..) and high-profile events are increasingly popular and sought-after by millions of fans around the world.

Alona is since +20 years active at FashionTV and one of people that made the channel grow to a distribution to 195 countries , over 500 million households and 7 million public locations across the 5 continents.

Alona has at FashionTV been at the forefront of reporting on the fashion industry and new experiences in fashion.

As fashion is undergoing significant change at the hands of the digital revolution, Alona is following the opportunities in Virtual Reality in Fashion, but also in Smart textiles , Wearables, Machine learning, Bots, IoT , Digital realities, Blockchains and visceral experiences .

And within this innovative space Alona and FashionTV have been for many years working with Virtual Reality.

As getting insights from experts about virtual reality within their specific sector is essential, we asked Alona for her view on the VR future in Fashion and this after the interview with Torsten Hoffman, Co-Founder of the Virtual Reality Content Group, Pieter Van Leugenhagen, Co-Founder of Yondr, Kim Schaefer, Managing partner at Reality Matters Hugo King-Fretts from Tui , Laura Hall from the VR/AR Association, Tim Woensdregt from Relativity VR and Jasper Steenkamp, Ward Van Ooteghem from InAnyEvent and Steven Swanson from Luma Pictures . All one by one experts in the fast growing VR world.

Marc : Tell us more about your company and how the company entered the VR market

Alona : pls look at the www.ftv.com website and you will find all about the company

Marc : What could you see happening in the last years related to VR and fashion ?

Alona : VR starts to pick up more , and more fashion companies are asking for VR content.

Marc : When did FashionTV saw the added value in VR for the Fashion market ?

Alona : As we stay always up to date, we had start to film the fashion shows for 1.5 years ago with VR 360°.

Marc : Many VR applications are only 360° . The future of VR requires interaction while users are wearing their glasses. How do you see this work in the fashion world ?

Alona : Soon we will not need any glasses anymore, the technical development is catching up.

Marc : The market is critical that VR could have the same hype as 3D TV , that never really worked. Why is VR different and why do you think it will be there to stay ?

Alona : I am not sure if it will stay as people just start to pick it up, but it will be one of the big demand for the next years

Marc : Is VR going to play an important role in the future of FashionTV ?`

Alona : As we are up to date with all technologies, VR is one of the technologies which we provide , besides 4k, HD, UHD, SD.

3D on the other hand was a big flop.

Marc : Do you see for FashionTV afterwards also a role for AR , Holographic or even moving with services into fashion stores and catwalks ?

Alona : Not at the current moment, it is to early to comment on that.

Marc : Is FashionTV becoming a Fashion VR producer ?

Alona : As I mentioned b4 we provide VR along the other technologies, as not all platforms can provide it to their subs. But it is defiantly a demand.

Marc : When you look at the global fashion brands and fashion models , who is leading the VR activities in the VR fashion world ?

Alona : The most of the brands in Italy.

Marc : Thank you for your views on this exciting VR market Alona. We encourage readers to reach out to Alona and her team and learn more on how she brings VR and Fashion together.
