Hey friend,?

Welcome to the 8th edition of the Blanket Newsletter - The NARPM 2024 Edition!?

(Read Time - 2:45)

New here? A few times a month, my team and I share exciting news, owner churn, and growth-related resources, product updates you need to know about, and great tools you can use in your property management business.

PM Ops Standards Guide Launch

Let’s start with the hottest discussion in property management right now: the launch of PM Operations Standards at NARPM Annual Convention.

Will you join Lior Abramovich?? and some other incredible industry experts next week for the Ops Summit?

Nearly every industry has shared benchmarks and a common definition of success, but property management has gone without them for far too long. But no more!

If you haven’t heard yet, we partnered with ProfitCoach to develop the first-ever PM Operations Standards. This initiative asked hundreds of property managers what milestones and metrics they target in their business and synthesized the results into one simple guide. The final product was released during NARPM Annual!

You can get your free copy here.

We will discuss these new PM standards and join a panel on resident/owner communications during the PM Ops Summit on Tuesday, November 12th.

Don’t miss this free virtual event, where you’ll also have the chance to face off against the speakers in a trivia game!

Peter Lohmann recently had Mark Brower on his podcast to discuss how Mark challenges PM industry norms.

Increasing Property Manager Cooperation with Crane

Big announcement!

We recently announced our official partnership with Crane , an exclusive community for experienced property managers who are determined to streamline operations, drive growth, and maximize profitability

Out of this partnership comes an exciting tool: The Crane Exchange for Crane Members. This is a members-only lead-sharing platform powered by Blanket that empowers property managers and enhances cooperation within the industry.

The Crane Exchange is just the beginning! We can’t wait to see what the next year of this partnership brings?

And look at all these incredible folks below! Taken at the Crane Dinner, a highlight of NARPM for sure!

Closing Thoughts from Lior Abramovich??

I posted on my LinkedIn a short while ago that I was reminded at NARPM Annual that property management is still fundamentally a people business.

My theory is it’s because of the complex, nuanced, and high-stakes nature of property management:

  • Complex: PMs face constant regulatory and market changes.
  • Nuanced: PMs deal with various personalities with different goals and preferences. No two owners are the same.
  • High-stakes: PMs manage their clients’ financial future.

In this environment, data and technology are important, but they can’t always tell the whole story or get you across the finish line like a conversation can. Sometimes, you have to rely on your relationships to get stuff done.

Here are two things we’ve noticed that help create new relationships and strengthen old ones:

  1. Provide value with no strings attached—You can apply this rule to your digital content. Social platforms have caught on and are now demoting promotional content and your email list can sniff an ask from a mile away. So, let your content speak for itself. Think about it in terms of your personal life. Would you be friends with someone who does no favors without the promise of something in return?
  2. Be genuine–“Let’s connect to discuss potential synergies!” Have you ever received a LinkedIn DM or email like that? Did you reply? No one does. It's because it’s a boilerplate and likely written by ChatGPT. Relationships are a two-way street. If you want to get to know a person, you must be willing to let them get to know you.

That's all for now. Talk soon!?

Best Regards,

Lior and the Blanket Team
