21st June - International Day of Yoga, also known as “Yoga Dayâ€. The day aims to raise awareness about the benefits of practicing yoga and promote its holistic approach to health and well-being.
The United Nations recognized it in 2014 General Assembly, following a proposal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is the current Prime Minister of India, has been a strong advocate of yoga and played a significant role in popularizing it globally.
He said: "Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action ... a holistic approach that is valuable to our health and well-being. 1.??????Proposal for International Day of Yoga: In his address to the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, 2014, Prime Minister Modi proposed the idea of observing June 21st as the International Day of Yoga. The proposal received overwhelming support, and it was unanimously adopted by the UN General Assembly.
2.??????Organization of Mass Yoga Events: Since taking office, Narendra Modi has actively promoted mass yoga events across India and around the world.
