A Nando’s Story: From an Uninspired Youth to an Influential Leader: Campbell’s Journey
Like many young people finishing high school, Campbell Wolfe wasn’t sure what his next step would be. Without a clear path in mind, he found himself drawn into the world of hospitality—a decision that would ultimately shape his career and reveal his natural leadership abilities.
Campbell’s early days in the industry began with a few casual hours at a local pizza shop. He enjoyed the work but never saw it as a long-term career. However, as he stepped into more significant roles—moving from team leader positions at various quick-service restaurants to management training programs—his confidence and leadership skills grew.
Then came Nando’s. Campbell didn’t set out to work for the brand, but when a recruiter reached out, he took a meeting that would change everything. What stood out to him wasn’t just the business model but the culture. Unlike his previous roles, where performance was measured strictly by numbers, Nando’s had a different focus: people. The brand’s commitment to values and personal development resonated with him deeply, and he knew he had found a place where he could thrive.
His journey at Nando’s has been nothing short of remarkable. In just six years, Campbell moved rapidly through the ranks—starting as an Assistant Patrao (Manager) and quickly stepping into the role of Patrao, where he faced the challenge of leading a struggling restaurant. Through hard work, passion, and a commitment to his team, he turned things around, transforming one of the lowest-performing restaurants in the country into one of the best.
But beyond the numbers, what truly stands out to Campbell is the impact he has had on people. From mentoring a once-disengaged team member into an enthusiastic leader to winning the prestigious Life and Soul award, which recognized his ability to inspire those around him, Campbell’s success is defined by the relationships he has built.
Today, as a Restaurant Opening Coach (ROC), Campbell is breaking new ground. In this first-of-its-kind role at Nando’s, he is responsible for ensuring new restaurants open with the right culture, structure, and energy from day one. Collaborating across departments—from design and construction to operations and marketing—he brings people together to support the creation of restaurants that embody the Nando’s spirit.

Reflecting on his journey, Campbell credits the people of Nando’s for shaping him into the leader he is today. “Nando’s as a business hasn’t changed my life—but the people at Nando’s have. The leaders, the colleagues, the relationships—they’ve all played a part in my growth,” he shares.
For Campbell, leadership isn’t about control; it’s about connection. His approach centres on listening, empowering others, and ensuring every person feels valued. Whether someone is at Nando’s for a short time or building a long-term career, he believes in making an impact on their journey.
So what’s next? As Nando’s continues to expand, Campbell is excited to keep learning, growing, and helping new restaurants flourish. His story is a testament to the power of embracing opportunities, believing in people, and finding purpose in unexpected places.
To those just starting their careers or unsure of their next steps, Campbell’s journey is a reminder that the path to leadership isn’t always linear—but with passion, purpose, and the right people around you, anything is possible.
