Name, Image, and Likeness: Someone Needs to Pitch This Deal

A brand that needs to get into the name, image, and likeness (NIL) game is P3 – Portable Protein Pack. It’s the Lunchable for athletes or people with active lifestyles. No cookies, juice or crackers, just mostly meat, cheese, and nuts. Some product variations include things such as sunflower kernels and dried fruit. The P3 packages range from 150 – 330 calories with 11g – 17g of protein and many packs containing as low as 1g of sugar.
P3 is what athletes should be snacking on to boost and accelerate recovery. To repair damaged muscle tissue from performances and training sessions, athletes need a quality protein source. To accelerate recovery, protein shakes are good to have immediately after training sessions, but athletes also need a meal with calories in that 2-hour window following performances and training sessions.
Many times, fitting in a substantial meal post performance and training sessions just isn’t practical for college athletes or anyone with an active lifestyle and ambitions to have a highly productive day. Therefore, people tend to wait hours before fueling their muscles and miss out on the optimal window of opportunity to accelerate their recovery. Or worse, they turn to a convenient option, such as a candy bar, to curb their hunger.
P3 needs to be in the hands of athletes on college campuses. These are highly ambitious individuals, taking on the task of a full-time job – their sport – and a full-time student. If anyone needs this product, there couldn’t be a more perfect fit than college athletes.
It’s already connected to the sports industry with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), as the ‘official protein snack of the UFC.’ A strategic move would be to form a team partnership with college teams and universities.
First, P3 should orchestrate a deal between a university’s men’s and women’s basketball teams. Get the product in the hands of the athletes and allow them to bring awareness to the product and its convenience factors. The student body will see athletes snacking on the product in between classes, lifts, practices, meals, and even during class.
Next, with the awareness and demand created, P3 should negotiate a deal with the university so it can place its products in the convenient stores/student centers on campus that provide grab & go options for students. With limited time between classes and a need for healthier snack items, P3 solves a problem on college campuses. Here’s a snack that will give you energy and focus without the sugar crash. Additionally, students are receiving nourishment that is satiating and prevents dieting on empty calories – chips, cookies, pastries, and muffins.

It's the sweet treats and processed foods that put on the unwanted pounds, not meat, cheese, and nuts. P3 should educate the athletes on the nutritional benefits of consuming protein, not just for building muscles but also for cognitive functioning. This has a tremendous opportunity to resonate with college campuses, where athletes and students value being lean and having mental acuity.
Additionally, P3 should push this product as a smart, healthy option for breakfast. Most college students skip breakfast trying to sleep as much as possible and make it to that 8am class on time. Skipping that breakfast is killing their performance in class.
Fitness guru Charles Poliquin, who trained world-class athletes, shared the importance of breakfast. He said, “When people ask me for the best single dietary tip for optimal leanness, energy and sustained mental focus, I invariably tell them to try the rotating meat and nuts breakfast.” Charles further goes on to say that the meat and nuts breakfast raises both dopamine and acetyl-choline, the two most important neurotransmitters for focus and drive.
As a college student, sitting through hour-long lectures, it sure would be nice to have chemicals such as dopamine and acetyl-choline bubbling inside, helping drive greater performance in the classroom. However, most college students won’t trade sleep for breakfast. And with P3, they won’t have to. They can sleep as long as they want, and before they head to class, they can grab a P3 out the dorm room fridge and snack as they go.
P3 is so versatile with its ability to be a meal at any part of the day, its list of benefits, and its market reach. Looking for breakfast? Have a P3. Need a snack between classes? Have a P3. Just finished training? Have a P3. Up late studying? Have a P3. Important final exam at 8am? Have a P3. College athletes and students all need P3.
Battle well,
Derek
