Name of the Game - Patience

Name of the Game - Patience

Let's start with a very simple question, what is Patience? How do we define patience?

I like to make everything super simple, so I would define patience as the ability to stay calm on the inside and outside, no matter what the outside situation is.

Naturally if you are calm on the inside, you will stay calm outside.

This is 2022 and we are living in an age of information, only now there is too much information.

Other than that, there is far more competition out there in the world no matter which field it is, there is always pressure to deliver results, on each and every person.

How do we cope with that kind of pressure in today's fast-paced world?

Before I tell you that, let me ask you a few questions,

Just answer "Yes" or 'NO'

1.) Do you need patience to deal with your boss?

2.) Do you need patience to deal with your client(s)?

3.) Do you need patience to deal with your partner, mother, or father?

4.) Do you need patience to do something big and worthwhile in life?

5.) Do you need patience in order to have that peace of mind?

6.) Do you think you need patience to drive in India :p? (Lot)

7.) Do you think you need patience to overcome any crisis or challenge?

8.) Do you think if you had more patience you will be more happier and peaceful?

9.) Do you think if you had more patience you will have a better relationship with each and every person in your life?

10.) Do you think if you had more patience you can make and save more money?

Isn't it more important to have patience than you previously thought?

I am going to talk about 3 components of patience. The 3 P's

1.) Programming ( Self - talk) -

  • I lack patience.
  • I have no Patience.
  • Mujhme patience ki bahut kami hai.

Are you familiar with this and use these lines often?

This is something common among people who have less patience, that's how their self-talk sounds like.?

Remember your mind is like a supercomputer, and your self-talk is the programming language, and guess what you are programming your supercomputer with when you say, I lack patience.

How to turn this around?

Simple, turn around your self-talk, change your programming.

What if you change your self-talk to 'I lack patience' or 'I have no patience at all' to,

" I am learning to be patient."
"I am willing to be patient."

Yes, things will not change instantly, but they will definitely progress with time.

2.) Perception -

We don't see reality as it is, we only see our perception of reality.

Reality is not one-dimensional, reality is multifaceted. reality is 360 degrees.

There is more to reality than what you see in the first place, and initially what your thoughts will tell you in most situations will be a very skewed and limited version of reality which will often freak you out and make you impatient.

But, What if there is so much more to your current perception of reality?

If you are just open to that, if you are just aware that there is more to reality, there are so many different ways of looking at a particular situation and your job is to find a better perception and that will only happen when you are open to it, which will naturally make you patient.

If a situation is making you impatient, just ask yourself,

  • What exactly about this situation is making me lose my patience?
  • How can I stay patient, which perspective is going to help me?
  • Is it even worth losing my patience?

3.) Practice

It's a very simple law of the universe, You become good at what you practice regardless of how talented you are.

It doesn't matter what kind of personality you have, or which month you are born in, if you practice patience you will get better at it.

If you practice being impatient you will get better at it.

What do you often practice?

The choice is yours regarding what you want to practice.

Because every situation where you lose your patience is an opportunity to practice patience.

What are you going to do, the next time you are losing your patience?

Remember the 3 Ps, Become aware of your self-talk and change your self-talk if required, be open to finding a new perspective, and know that it is an opportunity to practice patience.

Question of the Week

In the last newsletter, I asked the question,

"What would make you most excited to wake up in the morning to another day?"

  • As I was thinking of all the things that I like to do and look forward to doing the moment I wake up, I came to a realization that what makes me most excited to wake up in the morning to another day is actually "nothing."

I mean, I am in so much love with life, (Before I could say it out loud, I realized it needed some courage, because of so much conditioning which often says to keep it down, keep it low)

I am just excited to wake up, I am excited to look forward to a new day for how much I look forward to beginnings and every day often seems like a new beginning, a new gift, don't know what experience it has got in the store.

I do have many things that make me excited to wake up, like

  • Journaling, while having a hot cup of green tea
  • Going for a morning run
  • Early morning cold baths.

But most importantly it's not about the things, but the mindset which I come from which makes me excited to wake up each morning and conquer the day.

Next week's question,

What do you think is the most important thing money buys?

BOOK of the Week

This one is quite a famous one, but I still feel it is very underrated. I read it around 3 years ago and actually started waking up early. (lol)

The best part about this book is, it has got a little bit of everything, from stoicism to the importance of journalling to voluntary discomfort to the importance of naps.

It has also got a lot of motivational quotes too, which are very well placed. I am sure this book might not work for everyone, but if you already have the desire to wake up early and become disciplined and you don't know where to start and want to understand the nitty-gritty of it, this is a go-to book.

Love and Cheers
