NAME change OR a GAME change

Ever heard of Chinese Virus?? No, may be Wuhan Virus? No, may be UK Virus?

No, may be recently the most deadly, India Virus?

Just reflect, reporters/journalists around the world have only made it WORSE.

Thank you WHO for naming the different Covid-19 Variants.

This is not just the NAME change, but a GAME change. Since late 2019, people around the world (especially) from China, UK, Brazil, South Africa and recently India have felt discrimination and racism.

Attaching the Covid-19 variants to label people has lead to stigmatization and discrimination. Imagine people of Indian or Chinese heritage getting named and blamed for Indian Virus or the Chinese Virus.

Hopefully, the WHO's scheme, would fix the problem for the time being. However, there's a bigger discussion that need to take place.

Has this problem occurred during Covid or is this embedded in ourculture? What do you think??

Love this decision. Not only is it more respectful, its more logical. What if a second variant emerges from the same geography as a prior one, for example?

I think we are a bit late to the party. This is how it should have been to begin with. Did WHO and governments forget that we still haven’t matured as a society? Let’s hope this can stop the stereotyping of people, based on race and nationality.
