The Emails and The Open Rates!
Ah, the elusive open rates in the kingdom of email marketing.
It's like coaxing a shy turtle out of its shell or trying to catch a sneaky Pokémon in the wild.
But fear not, brave marketer, for I shall shed some light on what constitutes a good open rate with a touch of witty banter.
You see, achieving a stellar open rate is like being the charismatic ringmaster of a circus. You want your email to dazzle like a trapeze artist swinging effortlessly through the air, capturing the attention of your audience with a breathtaking performance.
First, email can be a complete and total slog, but it's worth it. There is no greater return on your investment than building an awesome list and really marketing it. I talk at length about it in my book (which I cannot wait to finally share with you all!) and it's worth noting that, even an open rate of 10%, it's better than crickets, but let's aim higher, shall we?
A 20% open rate is akin to receiving an enthusiastic golf clap and can be really seen as a positive - it's sleek and nice like a new Honda Civic, but you want a BMW or a Cadillac. Your Toyota (maybe it's a Toyota), well, it's polite and shows some level of interest, but it won't make your heart skip a beat or leave you walking on cloud nine.

Now, some people say, "Cold email is dead!" but I do beg to differ. It's not because I see results every day with the conversations I have and am open with clients and contacts every day.
Why?
People want to hear what you have to say when you frame the conversations in organic ways that matter.
These emails are the Beyoncé of the inbox, commanding attention, admiration, and perhaps a few well-deserved fan clubs.
I can work with you on the how (??) but the why is simple, we all like to meet and engage with people who care about what we care about and tell stories that we like to hear.

U.S. Surgeon General: We need to protect kids from social media risks immediately
"U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy warned in a new?advisory?Tuesday that widespread social media use among kids and teens poses a significant mental health risk that needs to be addressed immediately.
Such advisories are “reserved for significant public health challenges that require the nation’s immediate awareness and action,” according to a report released by the Surgeon General’s office. The report is based on “a substantial review of the available evidence,” on the impact of social media.
It’s not the first time Murthy has called out social media as contributing to a public health threat. In 2021, he issued an?advisory?about the threat of Covid misinformation and called on social media companies to make changes that favor fact-based sources. He’s also previously said that age?13 is “too early”?to use social media."
