Naice2022

Naice2022

My first NAICE experience was indeed a pleasurable one, #NAICE2022 . The beauty of this conference is how every stakeholders in the industry is placed on the same pedestal. The government body, the industry herself and not to mention the ever prestigious academia, all were reconciled to see how the energy crisis can be mitigated first in Nigeria and then at large. It is to be acknowledged that synergy between these stakeholders must be stamped before such a conference can even hold to begin with.?

Having heard there were 66 exhibitors I could only but imagine going home with a car as a souvenir. My expectations for the exhibition had a sharp scissors at it end, visiting booths here and there to get stamps, one would meet an intelligent carpenter on the deck of every booth preaching the core operations of their company. Interesting dialogue as usual, the most fascinating of all was to see I was in a particular booth "x" on hearing 埃克森美孚 ?is having a giveaway session in a couple of minutes. Now two things come to mind, whether to remain in booth x or to verify if Joe was correct. If Exxon didn't make more money than God, perhaps a relatively close estimate to God's net worth. I immediately dash off to Mobil's booth like a racing horse expecting that all of life problem was solved, only to find the same conventional giveaways. I said to the media with a long face "Joe definitely misinformed us, if the industry was a big house, exxon most likely served in the kitchen".?

A beautiful and delightful experience all in all. A big shout-out to Seplat Energy Plc for a job well done, no house in the bag though, but for every ticket you picked an unconventional giveaway was yours. Technical lectures held by different exhibitors was enlightening, most enjoyable was the practical illustration of how to administer CPR to an unconscious fellow at the 壳牌 ?booth. I sure hope that makes me a qualified doctor.?

Technical paper session was an epitome of impeccable wealth of knowledge. Being a paper presenter myself, i considered myself fortunate to witness the tenacity and diligence of both the industry and academia preferring solutions to energy-related problems. My presentation was of the topic ''Type curves of a vertical well within a pair of inclined sealing faults'' with paper number MS-211904. A special shout out to my lecturer, Steve Adewole ?for his ingenuity and incessant support. Bless your heart sir. A great milestone yet achieved, it was an honor to be in a room of astounding intellectuals identifying problems and seeking alternatives or rather solutions in their various niche.?

I did make friends; alumni from the University of Benin, folks from the University of Lagos and a couple of industry professionals. Special thanks to Koso Idigbe, PhD ?for his ever succinct advices.?

Lastly, I was hoping to find a life partner at the conference...but I guess Jesus knows best!?At the conference, I was ethralled to hear the SPEi President Kamel Bennaceur ?speak, one could only but congrue that Kamel was of a gentle and happy spirit. Bless your heart Kamel!

Looking forward to a greater synergy between stakeholders, NAICE2023 in view. Hopefully we remain strong and hearty.
