NAGALAND TOURISM HOSTS THIRD EDITION OF AUTUMN FESTIVAL
As Nagaland gears up to commemorate the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival, the Nagaland Tourism Department, supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is all set to host the eagerly anticipated third edition of the Autumn Festival from Oct. 18, 2024 to Oct 20, 2024, at the lawns of Nagaland House in New Delhi.
An update from the Dept issued on Wednesday informed that following two successful editions, the Tourism Dept is bringing the festival back with a renewed enthusiasm and extending it to include an additional third day. The update further adds that this Festival intends to provide residents of Delhi a chance to have to have a glimpse of the vibrant Hornbill Festival, particularly for those unable to travel to Nagaland, while also offering insights for those interested in experiencing this unique festival firsthand, the update informed.
Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Tourism and Higher Education, expressed his delight, stating, “Nagaland is all set to host the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival but before the mega event, our objective is to offer an immersive experience for individuals who are unable to attend in Nagaland through the Autumn Festival. Simultaneously, we aim to enhance the understanding of those who intend to travel for the festival, ensuring they know what to expect. This effort also helps to foster friendships and cultivate a sense of familiarity with each other’s cultures. Given that Delhi is the capital and a melting pot of diverse communities and cultures, it is an ideal location for this festival.”
The three-day event will feature a diverse array of Nagaland businesses and artistes. The best selection of cuisine, handicrafts, textiles and art, while music will be available for everyone to enjoy.
Prominent brands like Runway India, Ukrii Crafts, Kintem, and Mongken from the Department of Under Developed Areas (DUDA) and Women Folk by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) are said to be part of the upcoming event.
A plethora of Naga cuisines will be offered at the food stalls as part of the festival’s culinary section while local craftspeople will also provide live weaving and handicraft demonstrations to further enrich the festival’s experience and create an experiential one.

The festival also promises a stunning fashion show, spotlighting Naga textiles that are created with a global appeal in contemporary styles, alongside captivating musical performances by renowned artists, choirs and bands from the state, the update further informed. The first day of the festival is said to an exclusive invitation-only event, while the second day and third day would be open for all.
In many parts of the north eastern states, the heart-warming music, unique dresses, traditional culture, and lots of mystical stories behind every popular festival fascinate the tourists deep inside their hearts. All these days when the festival is celebrated, the whole northeast is flaunting with glory and celebration.
