NACRA case conference - face-to-face in Canada on October 6-8, 2022
Olga Kandinskaia
NACRA Past President; Associate Professor of Finance and Director of MSc in Green & Digital Management at the University of Limassol
Dear colleagues,
I am writing to let you know that the face-to-face Annual Conference of the North American Case Research Association (NACRA) will be hosted this year in Canada (Niagara Falls, Ontario) on October 6-8, 2022. A case submission for the conference should include the case itself (from 3 to 10 pages without appendices) and the corresponding instructor’s manual (no page limit). See the details of the Call for Cases and more information at https://www.nacra.net/conference/. The deadline for case submissions is June 13, 2022.
I would like to invite you and your colleagues to submit a case for the Accounting, Finance and Economics track. The round-table discussions in our friendly and supportive track welcome cases in all areas of finance, accounting and economics dealing with decision dilemmas in companies or non-profit organizations in any country around the globe. Preference will be given to decision-focused cases based on primary sources (interviews and field visits). We will also accept decision-focused cases based on secondary sources, e.g. legal proceedings, SEC filings, conference calls, annual reports, etc. Although cases may be disguised, they must be based on real events and real people in real organizations. Submitted cases may have been previously taught, but they must not be previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere (journals, books, online) before the 2022 conference.
?The NACRA Annual Meeting provides a valuable opportunity to receive detailed constructive feedback about your case, to engage with other case researchers in a small-group format, to get advice on the publication opportunities for your case (in various peer-reviewed journals and other outlets), and to participate in workshops and presentations from experienced case researchers and educators.
In finance, we typically have cases in corporate finance, for example, mergers and acquisitions, dividend and financial policy, initial public offerings, leasing, hybrid financing, real options, bankruptcy, working capital management, also corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. We also discuss investment cases, including corporate investment, efficient markets and excess returns, and international finance. Another area is banking and wealth management (personal finance) cases, involving bank mergers, personal wealth management, capital requirements and capital markets. Accounting cases include financial and managerial accounting, corporate and personal tax issues, ethics and fraud, and social responsibility. Economics cases tend to focus more on macro issues in the domestic and international economies. A new topic is the application of the game theory. Cases may concern large and small businesses, investment funds, including corporate investments, pension funds, mutual funds, etc., commercial and investment banks, personal finance issues and general economic issues.
?I look forward to hearing from you in case you have any questions. I will also truly appreciate your help in spreading the word around – please feel free to share.
