A n world ?
Following the webinar on Thursday
It was great to hear the comments of all panellists and I was pleased that I logged in, pity it was not longer.
So thought I would add my thoughts on retail having spent a fair amount of time in our industry worldwide.
Ikea, Bunnings seem to be travelling as usual if not better during this covid crisis, why? My thoughts are they offer a complete service, both have cafes child activity centres so it is not just a shopping experience, they cater for all the entire family.
Being a male I am amazed at how little seating is provided at most malls/shops for poor old hubby that has been dragged along to watch our partners enjoy shopping and children not catered for while Mum goes about her shopping and this can take hours, I know there are always rides, but they need a coin to ride on and many of us do not even have cash on us let alone a coin.
Recently I have been involved with a great concept in Queensland where there will be a mini golf, amusement arcade but with food and seating for the adults, it is yet to open but am sure it will succeed as it caters for all the family once again.
I was recently asked to do a presentation for a major shopping centre owner as they want and need to de-shoppify their malls that are so UN friendly, UN warm like at the moment and need to be made to look more welcoming and inviting, it is not hard to do and does not need to cost the earth if they listen to their bread and butter, their customers which is a rarity.
I have been to malls all over the world, some having ice skating rinks, carousels and more and they work as customers do not feel pressured into just buying goods they actually enjoy the experience.
Our world will not stop, never has even during wars, recessions, we just need to stay positive and adapt and improve what we offer.
This week alone I have been sent plans to quote on, one a new international group opening in Australia.
