#MyWayToLuminor
Welcome to the first edition of “My Way to Luminor,” where we talk to our people, about how they found themselves in Luminor, what they do in their roles and why they love working at Luminor.??
Today’s story is about Edgars Abolins from?BI&Data?Department. He shares his journey and how Luminor provides him all the tools to grow and develop professionally.?
Can you tell me about your role and what made you decide to join Luminor?? I joined Luminor more than 3 years ago, with minor experience in DWH?(Data?Ware House?)?and absolutely no banking knowledge. At that?time?I joined as a DWH developer and in my 3 years here I grew to be the top DWH expert both technically and in banking knowledge. Main reason of joining was that Luminor was willing to take me in and help me grow.?
What do you love about your role and in what exciting projects you are or were included?? I love the freedom that comes with my current load as a domain lead and a tech lead. I can set my own priorities, do what I like the most and outsource everything else. On top of that I’m involved in all high priority Luminor projects like sustainability, difficult?calculators?and other improvement projects.?
What makes your team so special?? Best part about my team is that there are many smart people who have a deep knowledge in their focus areas. Not many other companies have such experienced and great teams.?
How would you describe your way to Luminor?? Very?colorful, I have worked in many IT roles and in Luminor I’m working the longest of all roles.?
What’s been your experience working remotely?? I live 30 km from the office, therefore, I started to work fully remotely even before the Covid-19 and this way of working really suits me. Besides since we are a?Pan-Baltic?company, most of the communication is remote anyway.?
What advice you can give to someone who wants to start a career in Data?Engineering?? You?really?have to?love data plus try to learn as much as possible about your data, meaning if you work in banking sector, data makes way more sense if you know about banking principles.?
