MyWagePay CEO Beth Wambui Appointed as AfricaBerlin Network Ambassador

Kenyan fintech MyWagePay’s Founder and CEO Beth Wambui has been appointed as an AfricaBerlin Network ambassador. In the role, Beth will help facilitate linkages between African and European startups. She will add her wealth of experience as one of the few female fintech startup founders in Kenya to the global network that seeks to build a support system for entrepreneurs. Among her achievements include being ranked among the Top 10 leaders under the WesterWelle Foundation’s Young Founders Programme and running two thriving Facebook groups with over 1.2 million members.

MyWagePay is a trailblazing company providing financial wellness services to employees with a goal of moving them from debt to saving. Beth founded the firm in late 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that wreaked havoc on many people’s finances even when they had stable jobs and salaries. The company segments its service offering into three categories: financial education, savings, and earned wage access. The financial education aspect is meant to provide employees with practical tools to make their money work for them; the savings feature is tailored towards creating a safety nest; while earned wage access allows employees to access a portion of their earned but unpaid salaries to meet unplanned expenses. In essence, MyWagePay provides employees with more control over their income and reduces the financial stress they may face from the inability to meet day to day needs.

AfricaBerlin Network is a European Union (EU) initiative aimed at supporting entrepreneurs overcome the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is currently funded and implemented by the European Fund for Regional Development, Berlin Senate Department for Economy, Energy and Enterprises, Enpact, and the Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH among others.
