This graphic does not say why victims don't reach out - they face criminal charges themselves in fact, on Senate Bill 18-084, prosecutors and law enforcement had to work very hard to kill this fantastic bill that would have provided full Safe Harbor immunity for minor victims.
Why did they work so hard to kill it? So they can hold charges over kids heads in order to force them to cooperate. Maureen Cain testified to this as the defense bar has had many children who were forced into cooperation by the DA's office adding additional changes.
I think people think victims go to some recovery ranch where there is horseback riding and yoga instead of youth corrections. THAT, is egregious and no less exploitive.
We are harming victims and sex workers under the current system. Until we see decriminalization of prostitution, we will continue finding bodies of women.
The International Coalition for Sex Worker Rights and Anti-trafficking are available to discuss the myths and misconceptions about human trafficking with your organization.
