Myths about divorce: Man comes off worse
Man comes off worse in a financial settlement
Everyone hears a story that the man always gets less of the financial settlement, however this is not the case as it depends on the detailed information provided. i.e. the settlement is not just based the value of the house but includes other assets such as individual pensions, inheritances etc and all of it must be taken into account as well as support for any children. It is difficult to Judge what the real situation is when you only hear one half of the story and it is the bits that are most emotional
Very often most people head straight a solicitor’s office to protect their own interests and this is when the costs start to rack up and the only loses are the individuals themselves.

8 年well, it all depends on what you think is "fair" and what is not. In Countries -like the US- where an "equitable" distribution in divorce is provided probably the perception of fairness goes more towards an idea of 50-50. In other Countries, like mine, mainly because of tens of years' feminism, this does not happen. Women only get a support when they cannot provide for their own maintenance. Therefore the very idea of fairness is pointless.
