Myths of delegation

When different businesses come to me for advice, I usually spot some common obstacles that slow down their growth. Many of these issues boil down to a lack of ability to delegate tasks. I’ve identified 3 most common myths that entrepreneurs fall into:
1. "I'd better do it myself"
This is what I hear all the time from startups. They say, "I can't afford to hire a team right now, so I'll handle everything myself: sales, talking to customers, the day-to-day stuff." But this is a big mistake.
Sure, you need to understand how everything works, but if you want your business to grow, you can't keep doing everything yourself.
2. "You can do it yourself"
There's this trend, especially in online businesses, where people hand off their work to managers and jet off to Bali, thinking they'll just start raking in millions. But delegation isn't a one-off thing where you dump your work on someone else and take off. That approach rarely works. Maybe you'll see someone pull it off on Instagram, but it's not a reliable strategy.
Quick success without real delegation can lead to quick failure.
3. "You can't do it all alone"?
Micromanagement is a trap that even experienced managers fall into. They think they need to be involved in every little thing to save the business. But this approach actually stops the team from shining and eventually demotivates everyone because it's so time-consuming and exhausting.
So, delegation isn't something that just happens. It's a skill you need to work on and develop.
