Mythbusting #1

Coaches: How’s your week going? As we near the end of June, has your coaching all gone swimmingly this month/year-to-date, or were there some challenges??

Whether you allow yourself to think about this or not, did you feel anxious at any point about being judged?

We all remember when we were training to become coaches and we had to demonstrate competencies and a strict code of ethics. You may have had some difficult experiences coaching others when you were in coach training. I hear this a lot from supervisees. Sometimes it puts coaches off coaching certain types of client, for example senior executives.?This worry about not being good enough – being shamed - lies at the very core of your coaching identity.?

You are good enough.

You can choose the coach you want to be.?

You can be the coach you want to be.

Jeremy, great topic. So many of the people I work with speak of "imposter" syndrome, it turns out any one, even the coach, can feel this way from time to time! More and more I find a lot of answers from social neuroscience that can help people to understand why they are feeling the way they are, and with this awareness, learn how they can build strategies to transcend these feelings, hence the invaluable practice of supervision #gettingthingsdone #coaching #coachsupervision ??
