MYTH: “You Don’t Need to Learn More – the Issue Is Your Mindset”

Hey Mama! Every Monday, I want to remind and empower you to redefine motherhood on your terms—without the dreaded mom guilt. This is your way to find yourself.

If we haven't met yet, I am Cora, a mindfulness coach for C-section moms, helping you heal through the power of words.

Here is your guidance ?

Reflecting on Knowledge vs. Mindset: A C-Section Mom’s Journey

“You’ll heal quickly if you just stay positive.”

“Everyone goes through this; it’s nothing special.”

“You should be grateful you have a healthy baby.”

“You should just get over it and move on.”

These are some of the things people said to me after my C-section. It turns out – this was NOT helpful! ??

These words made me feel isolated, guilty, and even jealous of those who seemed to have an easier time. Reflecting on my journey, here’s what I learned that truly transformed my experience:

  1. Understanding the Unique Challenges of a C-Section: I didn’t know that the physical and emotional healing process after a C-section could be significantly different from other birth experiences. Learning about the specific needs and challenges helped me approach my recovery with more compassion and patience.
  2. Addressing the Emotional Scars: It wasn’t just my body that needed to heal. The feelings of failure, disappointment, and isolation were real and valid. Acknowledging and addressing these emotions through therapy and support groups made a huge difference in my recovery.
  3. Building a Support Network: I didn’t realize how crucial it was to connect with other C-section moms who truly understood my experience. Their empathy and shared stories helped me feel less alone and more empowered.
  4. Redefining My Motherhood: Society often sets unrealistic standards for what motherhood should look like. I learned to redefine my version of motherhood, which embraces my unique journey and celebrates my strengths.
  5. Setting Boundaries and Saying No: I didn’t know how important it was to protect my energy and set boundaries with well-meaning but sometimes hurtful advice from others. Learning to say no and prioritize my well-being was a vital step in my healing.
  6. Finding Joy in Small Victories: I found that celebrating small milestones in my recovery, no matter how insignificant they seemed to others, helped me stay positive and motivated.

The journey of healing after a C-section is not just about a positive mindset; it’s about equipping yourself with the right knowledge and tools. It’s about learning to balance self-compassion with the desire for growth and understanding that it’s okay to seek out new information and support.

There’s more. So much more that I didn’t know back then.

But I hope the point is made.

If you feel uncertain about how to navigate the emotional challenges post-C-section or if certain aspects of your healing journey feel “off” or need more clarity – trust that.

Not knowing enough is, indeed, a “thing.”

It’s not necessarily your mindset that’s the problem (though that could, of course, be part of it).

After years of experiencing and overcoming these challenges, I’ve developed a keen understanding of what truly helps C-section moms heal emotionally and physically.

I’ve now spent countless hours working with other C-section moms, helping them navigate their unique journeys with compassion and practical strategies.

Many of them have shared that the clarity and support they received were more impactful than anything else they had tried.

I’d be honored to welcome you into my case study if you’re ready to embark on this transformative journey too.

My program includes a free 30-day private (1-on-1) experience where we dive deep into one aspect of your healing process, and an optional paid 9-week group experience to support you further.

With gratitude,

Cora
