MYTHS #SINGAPOREANS HAVE ABOUT LINKEDIN!

?Though LinkedIn is a powerful tool for business/career professionals across all industries, there are still a lot of misconceptions about how it works. ?

Maximizing LinkedIn requires you to ditch some pervasive and limiting mindsets.

Myth #1: LinkedIn is for job search.

Truth: LinkedIn is a great place to build your professional brand, stay up-to-date with your network, and gain insights and knowledge at every point in your career.

Myth #2: LinkedIn is boring.

Truth:Remember this, some of the most viral status updates on LinkedIn have had nothing to do with work, reminding usthat human beings are still … human beings.

Myth #3: I should only post content about my company and industry.

Truth: You should share anything that feels like a representation of you and your professional brand. A great and simple question to ask yourself before posting something is, “Would the people in my network find this interesting?”

Myth #4: LinkedIn is only meant for bosses and managers.

Truth: (If) that's the case (we LinkedIn users know that it is not the case), the more you MUST be on LinkedIn! Because it is where you will be able to showcase yourself more beyond your office enviroment.

Myth #5: Its very ang-moh ("white people") !

Truth: This is one of the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! I have got no explanation for this but even if it is very "ang moh" , it connects you and it is huge "ang moh" platform to be tap on for your career growth.

Bonus! Myth #6: I haven't really started working yet, LinkedIn isn't for me.

Truth: To millennial out there, the more you should and must be on LinkedIn! It is a platform to showcase what you are passionate about, to ask questions and get fantastic responses from proffesionals without feeling stupid or offended and it is a great place to connect and even land yourself in a job which is not even advertise!

Change your mind about LinkedIn and start to use it as a platform for managing your career advancement. It is a powerful tool when you approach it with the right mindset.
