We use intuition far often than we care to admit yet no one truly understands it.
Have you ever had a feeling so bad that it moved you to do the unthinkable and it turned out good? If yes, you’ve experienced intuition. So far as you are human, you would at some point in time feel something down your gut. It may be a sort of rumbling and makes you want to do or say something. It could also be a decision. Gut feelings or intuition comes to us when it chooses. It is often a fast way to make decisions…often the right way too. There are countless instances where gut feelings have led people to do the unthinkable against conventional wisdom and tenets.
From the Google dictionary, intuition is the ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning.
Sometimes intuition comes from a very deep and personalized understanding of something. Other times, it simply comes as flashes to feel strong enough to move you to do or say something.
The question now is where does intuition come from?
QZ.com says “Intuition draws from that deep memory well to inform your decisions going forward. In other words, intuitive decisions are based on data, in a way. When we subconsciously spot patterns, the body starts firing neurochemicals in both the brain and gut.”
Intuition is the result of our subconscious workings. No one can actively bring up intuitive thoughts and feelings. And so often, intuition is a result of feelings. However, these feelings come as a result of a deep understanding. Backed by a subconscious understanding and realisation of certain patterns.
Hence, we may experience during fits of Excitement, joy, happiness, optimism, even anger and hate. All emotions have the power to evoke strange and powerful thoughts.
The Worse Thing You Can do to Intuition
Due to the mostly unreasonable nature of intuition, most people tend to judge it, They fear it may be the wrong thing. They fear they may get into trouble. They, therefore, doubt it. They ask, “What if?” and when you continually do this, you end up suppressing your intuitive tendencies as you trust them less and less. A secret about intuition is that the more you trust it, the more it works for you.
We are all capable of doing great things through the power of intuition. The only problem is that most of us do not give enough room for working with our intuition. And this often stems from low self-esteem, lack of trust in self leading to a stinging doubt that hurts our intuition and sucks aways our ultimate power of coming up with unconventional yet transformational ideas.
Unleash your power, believe in yourself and do what makes sense and strongly aligns with your values and vision.
