Mysteries of the 2012 Saint-Emilion Classification - Bordeaux Wines
We all have in mind that unlike the 1855 classification that has virtually never changed (except for a few small changes, notably the inclusion of Mouton-Rosthchild in 1973), the classification of Saint-Emilion has been relatively regularly updated.
But have you got any idea how the wineries where classified?
The classification of Saint-Emilion wines, some of the best Bordeaux wines, right bank in here, was updated in 1969, 1986, 1996, 2006.
The last iteration of the classification therefore the current one, was done in 2012.
In the video below, I discuss what is this classification and how it was done, the ranking process so we really understand what 'Grand Cru Classé' means here.
If you'd rather read, here's a blog article I wrote about the 2012 Saint-Emilion Classification gathering all the same depth and details as the video.
All the info about Saint-Emilion is on the official Saint-Emilion bureau website https://vins-saint-emilion.com/ (header image here extracted from thier nice website).
Hope that's useful.
See you soon in the wonderful world of wine.

4 年Julien Miquel DipWSET great video. Reading the comments I got a little confused. Are there 3 classification ( classe A , classe B and a just “classe”) or just 2 (a and b)?
