Process Engineering Software for Phase Separator Design and Performance Simulation
Global release of MySep Studio V6.0
After almost 3-years in development, months of in-house testing, and a customer beta test program with leading users in Houston, the global roll-out of MySep Studio V6.0 is underway. Official Release on 1st October 2023, followed a coordinated commercial launch at Offshore Europe in Aberdeen and GasTech in Singapore. To cap off presenting V6.0 to the industry, our Official Release was synchronised with the opening of the ADIPEC exhibition in Abu Dhabi.
Guy Hellinx, co-founding director of MySep explains: “Initial interest has been phenomenal from both existing users and prospective customers.? First exposure to the new version makes it easy to understand MySep’s rigorous incremental analysis, and the value this brings to understanding performance of existing separators.

V6.0 makes clear the good design practice we provide for new-build and retrofit design. Long-regarded as the industry gold standard and as a pioneer in separation modelling software, we are thrilled to release this new version, packed with improvements and new features.
MySep was established to focus on helping customers in optimizing processes constrained by separation, with research-based physically representative modelling.”
Guy continues: “We’ve grown our customer base from initially just a few operators to over 50 companies worldwide, including 8 of the 10 top international Oil & Gas Operators and 5 of the 10 top international EPCs.? With V6.0 we’re redefining the industry standard to meet our customer’s challenges in the decades ahead.”
Serving our USA Customers
MySep has appointed Ed Hernandez to serve our many key customers in the United States. Ed is based in Houston and has a long history in refining, upstream and midstream sectors.
Ed brings deep domain expertise in Process and Pipeline simulation, from past service with Hyprotech Inc, AspenTech Inc, Schlumberger (SLB) and Chevron.?
MySep sees adding this experience to our team, as a key investment with the aim of assisting our user community to maximize business benefit from the MySep Studio and MySep Engine products.
Ed’s strong background in dynamic and steady-state simulation, coupled with his industry experience, will help customers take full advantage of MySep Engine in optimizing process designs and operations.
MySep Training – now with V6
This year MySep’s full training course was delivered to 16 companies in Web-based sessions.? Our instructor -led training provides software hands-on experience, carefully integrated with separation theory and guidance on good design practice.? In the past 12 months, over 160 trainees have benefited, located across 11 countries spanning the globe from Alaska to Japan.
Companies ranged from leading international Oil & Gas operators, global engineering consultancies, FPSO engineering and service providers, to specialist separation equipment manufacturers.
Key topics in our training modules include:

Below are just two recent comments from experienced senior process engineers, representing respectively, an international operating company and a leading EPC:
“The course material and examples were excellent and explained concepts clearly. The presenter’s knowledge was evident in how they handled questions.”
"I have not experienced a course with a similar level of quality technical content: including theory, illustrative videos and hands-on software exercises."
In October, MySep provided our first training syllabuses including the new MySep Studio V6.0.“A further two full courses featuring V6.0 provided for customers, rolling-out V6.0.? Trainee feedback finds outstanding ease of use, clarity of analysis and ready access to key features, with MySep Studio V6.0.
March of the Digital Twin
The relentless adoption of Digital Twins is driving growth across many industries, with wide acceptance of huge latent potential in Oil & Gas, to optimize revenue and margin or shorten design project cycle time. Process simulation models, implemented in either steady-state and dynamic modes, are being linked to online data and deployed to optimize process operations.
In an industry first, for one of the largest publicly-listed Oil and Gas companies and their FPSO service contractor, Wim Van Wassenhove of Billington Process Technology (BPT) recently demonstrated a unique integrated software solution.

Concerned about the impact of pipeline slugging on gas production aboard an FPSO facility, MySep and BPT’s mutual customers sought this marriage of technologies.
It included dynamic multi-phase pipeline modelling utilising Kongsberg’s LedaFlow software. The solution also required the BPT-LLX interfacing product, integrating transient pipeline simulation with topsides process modelling implemented in Honeywell’s UniSim. As rigorous representation of 3-phase and 2-phase separators was essential, MySep Engine models were pivotal, bringing prediction of liquid carry-over with gas, to process model dynamics.
Global Reach
Our commitment to existing customers is reflected in regular presence at key international industry events.
In May we exhibited at OTC in Houston.? September found us simultaneously at Gastech in Singapore and Offshore Europe in Aberdeen. At both events we invited customers to celebrate our 10 years industry service and witness the MySep Studio V6 launch.
The full release of MySep Studio V6.0 coincided with our meeting customers and exhibiting at ADIPEC 2023.
Our partner SLB staged a Digital Production Facilities Day, in Jakarta, November this year, where Avinash Ravendran presented on Digital Twins optimizing LNG processing.
A member of GPA Europe, MySep was invited to present on optimization of process with Digital Twins at the Technical Sessions combined with the members’ Annual General Meeting, London, this November.
Celebrating 10 years Industry Success
MySep Pte Ltd was incorporated in 2013 with the goal of providing the industry standard for separator design and performance analysis. Our software is founded on industry expertise in separation technology and practice, drawing on almost 2 decades of research and troubleshooting experience.
From roots in development and supply of advanced cyclonic separation equipment, MySep’s founders established the Kranji Solutions consultancy in 2008. The company rapidly forged a reputation for independent analysis of mal-performing and bottlenecked separation equipment, providing remedial strategies to a string of leading global industry operators. Kranji continue this specialist consultancy, in addition to contract test, research and development services, associated with advanced separation equipment.
Serving their world-wide client base, Kranji Solutions Pte Ltd developed MySep software as an in-house tool to support their consulting. The software allowed Kranji engineers to quickly screen issues and augment their specialist CFD analysis.
MySep Pte Ltd was launched in 2013 to give clear business focus to software licensing aimed at customers in upstream, midstream and downstream Oil & Gas.
In commemoration of the significant 10-year milestone, MySep's directors and founders brought together their global team in Paris, where all enjoyed an enriching four-days in the enchanting "City of Light." Explorations included a Seine river cruise, ascent of the Arc de Triomphe, tour of the Musee d'Orsay, strolling Montmartre and the Sacre-Coeur. The MySep team also took in a traditional Parisian cabaret show. Adventures were accompanied by delightful fine dining.
Investment and Growth
MySep’s rise to become the standard software for simulation and design of process phase separation equipment, is built upon the company founders‘ commitment to business investment.
The comprehensive overhaul of our flagship product necessitated a threefold expansion of our development team. Additionally, MySep has increased staffing across disciplines, including back-office operations, process engineering, and regional business development. This reflects a commitment to enhancing services for our existing clientele and broadening our customer base.
Driving MySep’s growth are new software license customers which in 2023 included: Chart Inc; Tecnimont; Morimatsu; UBOC; Universal Facility Construction; Beijing Zehua Chem Eng; Wood; Pertamina Hulu Energie; Wison Offshore & Marine Ltd. Worley, upgraded to multi-user global network licensing.
MySep’s management team have overseen strong revenue growth in recent years. Predicting 2023 revenue with 25% growth on the previous year, director, and co-founder Maaike van Rij says, “the level of enthusiasm amongst our software licensing prospects for the new MySep Studio V6.0, bodes well for strong business growth in 2024. Considering our plans to enhance the MySep Engine product, we have tremendous confidence in the future potential of MySep Pte Ltd.”
