MySchool, an IB World School, Celebrates the International Space Day

Muscat - The budding scientists of MySchool International celebrated the International Space? Day with great enthusiasm, and glorified the importance of the Space day. The main purpose of this event, which took place on October 4th 2022, was to tap into students’ interest in space science and encourage them to pursue their studies in this regard. All the students from kindergarten (KG), the Primary and Middle Years Program (PYP and MYP), and the diploma program took part in this event.?

The programme started with the morning assembly, which was enriched with dazzling? performances of KG1 , PYP-1 and? PYP-6 students of MySchool, which worked as the premiere to the main event. The day proceeded with an inspirational exhibition by the MYP and PYP students, who in turn explored many working models, fixed models, bingo puzzles,? and different posters on space .

The event was inaugurated by the MoE’s Physics Supervisor, dear Ms. Marwa Said Al Shanfari, in presence of dear Ms. Samia Al Balushi, the Principal of My School International, as well as the HODs and teachers. After that, the exhibition was declared open to the whole enthusiastic MSI community.?

The MYP-5 (grade 10) students made a working model of a rocket, using recycled items (Al Basel, Yousuf, Taha, Ammar, and Khalil); the young ladies in this grade (Aya, Noor, and Seba) also showcased their outcome in the form of a blackhole model. A scenic model of? simulated life on Mars was also designed? by Sara, an MYP-4 (grade 9) student.

Bingo puzzles and different patterns of constellations were also created by the PYP students. Posters were designed to provide awareness about the importance of space exercise and different foods used by astronauts as well as space news and facts. Other student-initiated products included? models of the solar system and different planets’ ecosystems.

MySchool International’s administrative team, including Ms. Fazeela (Highschool Coordinator), Mr. Mohammed? (Middle Years Program Coordinator), Ms. Pari (Primary Years Program Coordinator), Ms. Jincy Abraham (Head of Mathematics Dept.), Dr. Yousri (Head of Arabic Dept.), and Ms Dilna V. K. (Head of IT Dept.) were present during the celebration, and the heartwarming support of both PYP and MYP teachers made the event exhilarating and exciting.

Every year, science-lovers celebrate the International Space Day on October 4 to encourage the students to take an interest and learn more about space and space exploration. This event caters for students’ need to understand how far science has come and the wonders that lie just beyond our atmosphere.
