I first visited " Hannover Messe" in 1996, and as a curious engineer from a developing country, i should admit, it took me to a different level of experience for the sheer scale, access to demonstrable value with technology and more than anything- how much my company Siemens leveraged this for showcasing its Industrial excellence and commitment to its roots, in Germany ! In my first event, i did " Stall duty" for Industrial services business of Siemens AG representing its diversity( i joined from India) to its customers and the stall was themed to perfection around customer delight, including an in stand masseur to help relive stress to ones on stand and visiting ! That's what i'd call story telling ! Siemens AG has for years planned & perfected its approach in the messe and its like delivering a " epic" block buster !

The?Hannover Messe?(HM; "Hanover Fair") is one of the world's largest?trade fairs dedicated to the topic of industry development. It is organized by Deutsche Messe AG and held on the?Hanover fair grounds in Hanover. Trivia- The Messe at Hanover was Germany's first export fait post world war II established in 1947 directed to reconstruction with a global engagement! .It became Hanover Messe in 1961 and since then has gone on to be a platform for the German economic miracle and Industrial innovation and edge. Hanover is also known for its " Hoch Deutsch" or pure German in terms of linguistic centricity for German nation . Typically, there are about 6,500 exhibitors and 250,000 visitors. For records- The

Hannover?exhibition center?is?the largest convention center in the world ! Period!

HMI 22 was different, it was first in the' New Normal" after a 2 year break , one in third of exhibitors turned up ..which can be attributed to "coming back to normal" but the dynamics was as always "electric"! It was also different for the way organizations tried to communicate value - there was certainly a sense of urgency to embrace the real new normal - which is Industrial IOT, Data centricity, data governance & federation, ubiquitous computing( edge/cloud) , communication (read 5G), AI/ML@scale , citizen developers et al .Communication was directed to macro challenges of sustainability, scalability, profitability, employee experience & user experience. Companies are trying to relate Industrial innovations along these macro drivers . Siemens AG delivered its value satellites around Resilience & flexibility, sustainability & profitability, efficiency & quality, Transparency & speed , Availability & speed with distinct use cases around digital twin/ threads, additive manufacturing, cyber security, Edge & IT/OT convergence, IIOT & Cloud computing, Autonomous production, Industrial 5G, Automation & standardization et al. Siemens also embraced " virtual experience tours" , to enable customers and visitors experience Amberg @ HMI 22 a true testimonial of how one pivots to leverage technology adapting to times. I liked the virtual experience & feel it gives a near real experience to visiting the plant! We in fact had a customer from US wanting to see how Siemens is leveraging technology at its own progress for making a decision on their investment!

Hyperscalers, SaaS and communication( read connectivity, communication..) companies were increasingly demonstrating the IT/OT convergence that is becoming a realty with the ease with which they merged into this " Industrial event" , demonstrating their leap towards partnership & ecosystem play with the Industrial domain and equally adept were the Industrial players including Siemens in showcasing the art of possibility in partnering.

System integrators & consulting partners have always had a role of catalyst in Industrial transformation and HMI22 wasn't an exception, the Global SI's & consulting partners were seen seamlessly bridging the chasm between IT/OT, cloud, edge & the emerging technologies , demonstrating how value delivery is a reality & not myth ! OT solution partners were showing their digital entrepreneurism by elevating themselves to ISV's in the digital world embracing IIOT technologies. Startups and digital native ISV's are showing how blurred the divide between IT & OT is getting.. all very promising signs for our customers looking at execution and efficiency in leveraging the new play field!

Interesting addition to spectacle has been the bringing to lite the Human layer to IT/OT play, here , i had the opportunity to speak at sessions with our new wave partner in Industry- Salesforce ... i for one see that the Industrial digital transformation will see tremendous growth with what I'd like to call " humanizing" IIOT. Action on Insights to take the " actionable insights to effect is one of the cornerstones of this " Humanizing IIOT". We are just at start here but clearly, i was excited to see the participation of CX companies joining forces with Industrial technology majors & Infrastructure companies to deliver enhanced customer experience... which ultimately will help realize sustainable growth in Industrial digital transformation approaches.

My take way - New normal is "go and deliver value" with IIOT & spectacles like HMI22 helps people to believe we are in Normal!
