Synthesis of regenerative things I loved and learned last month.
This post was originally published on Substack.
From Intention to Attention
I loved the summary of the RegenerateX Intentions 2024 event hosted by Rudy de Waele and Canay Atalay from RegenerateX .
Shift from Intention to Attention: Nora Bateson emphasised being attentive and present, acknowledging the limits of our perception and the importance of being receptive and open to new perspectives. “I think…that I'm really interested in attention, in paying attention in listening in…in receiving and noticing that my habituated ways of receiving and perceiving the world around me are, are, limited."
2023 In Eight Points
I loved Otto Scharmer ’s reflection 2023 In Eight Points: Meditating On Our Planetary Moment. It elaborates on how “small islands of coherence” have the capacity to lift an entire system, and that by opening our minds, hearts and wills we can shift our thinking from a “silo to a systems view”, our relationships from “toxic to transformative” and our actions from “ego to eco”.
Eco-Systemic Collaboration
Planetary regeneration requires?collaborating in emergent, experimental, evolutionary and eco-systemic ways. That’s why I made an overview of my favourite resources for cultivating eco-systemic collaborations on LinkedIn. I’ll transform this into a starter kit soon!
Mapping Circular Communities
Transforming a city into a circular ecosystem starts with understanding our communities and their local challenges. After three years of work with nine pilot neighbourhoods across Europe, Metabolic created a 5-step guide for cities that brings together materials, mapping templates, and inspiring case studies.
Regen Places Network
I love this map by Regen Places Network Network. RPN is a growing impact network of place-based alliances for thriving cities, towns and bioregions within planetary boundaries. Thank you for the mapping work Coalition of Everyone (CoE) , WWF-Australia , Willow Berzin and Dr Dimity Podger . How might we fractally interconnect, align and cohere place-based and bioregional networks?
Decentralized Mapping
I thought I could illuminate and connect regenerative networks with a centralised database — which is not very Mycelium-like… Luckily I found a simple decentralized solution. Murmurations Protocol enables maps and directories to be built from a shared, distributed data set. So to all mappers: let's create maps in open, interoperable and decentralised ways!

Psychology Drivers of the Metacrisis
Another great video by The Consilience Project . With no planned objective or agenda, this conversation between Dr Iain McGilchrist , John Vervaeke and Daniel Schmachtenberger sought to outline the cognitive and spiritual components of the metacrisis.
A New European Bauhaus Economy
A New European Bauhaus Economy explores what is emerging at the intersection of the material and immaterial; new relationships between tangible assets, intangible assets, craft, automation and civic engagement economies; highlighting how these new value flows can support the shift towards a regenerative future for our built environment.
“How might we relearn how we look at the world, not through objects, assets, liabilities and balance sheets, but through entangled flows of value?”
Better Uncertainties
As an aspiring Taoist, I love the Kickstarter project?'Better Uncertainties' —?a card deck with ancient prompts adapted from the I Ching for provoking (in)action. Please support Andy Thornton on Kickstarter, as the campaign is over soon ?
"Better Uncertainties helps you to reflect on the present moment, consider potential futures, make more informed decisions, and take your next step, all with the confidence in knowing you're perfectly aligned with the temporal and spiritual flow of the universe. It will raise a mirror to your mind, allowing you to spot hidden connections, reveal unimagined possibilities and form profound meaning from new insights."
How I Write
You can read what an author writes anywhere. But not how they write. That’s why I was thrilled to stumble upon the podcast ‘How I Write’ by David Perell . I particularly loved this episode with Derek Sivers. It reminded me of the power of simplicity.
What I Write
Through the currents of life and an abundant flow of inspiration, I’m writing 15+ articles at the same time. To keep you updated on some of the things I’m working on, here’s a short overview of posts you can expect at The Mycelium.

10 个月Thanks Tijn Tjoelker. A great synthesis and great frameworks. I have also learned a lot from Nora Bateson, Otto Scharmer, and Daniel Schmachtenberger Last year I made this graphic as a synthesis where the heart, the head and the hands come together. Cheers very much to Dark Matter Labs ?? And your Ecology of Writing! Love that. I write like that too, with about 10+ active drafts that evolve with all the conversations and experiences and the sensation of pull from the right timing to complete and share them ???? That’s a highfive.
