My Working Life: Johnson Joseph

"My Working Life" profiles members of the team at Blackrock Health. This segment features Johnson Joseph, Deputy Radiology Services Manager / MRI Clinical Specialist at Blackrock Health Hermitage Clinic.

What is your role in Blackrock Health?

I am the Deputy Radiology Services Manager / MRI Clinical Specialist at Blackrock Health Hermitage Clinic. I have been in my current role for the past 12 years.

What is your morning routine?

I try to rise at 7am each morning getting out of bed without hitting ‘snooze’ on my alarm. My day begins with a 30-minute yoga session, which helps me to cultivate a positive mindset for the day ahead.

What is the last thing you usually do every day?

Before concluding my workday, I ensure that I have addressed all queries directed to me, I review my calendar and task list for the next day, and I prepare any documents or materials required for the next day.

Before bed, I think back on the day I’ve had, reflecting?on the positive interactions and practising gratitude, and remembering those who contributed positively to my day. I then engage in a brief prayer, accompanied by relaxing music for 15 minutes to unwind before sleep.

What is the most rewarding part of your job at Blackrock Health?

I was involved with the installation project of two MRI machines and the Cath lab here at Blackrock Health Hermitage Clinic. Nearly 12 years ago, I successfully developed a non-contrast peripheral angiogram on a high creatinine patient in Hermitage Clinic.

Additionally, I am pleased to have had two MRI articles published in an American journal last year. These articles garnered significant attention online, attracting many views. I felt a sense of pride when contacted by the publisher expressing interest in collaborating on future articles.

How does your role contribute to improving the patient experience at Blackrock Health?

I collaborate closely with our Clinical Director of Radiology Dr. John Sheehan to leverage artificial intelligence in MRI analysis to support earlier identification of neurodegeneration. This initiative aims to provide patients with timely diagnoses that might otherwise go undetected by human observation.

What is the greatest piece of advice you were ever given?

Follow the rules, be truthful and loyal, and above all be thankful for who you are and what you have.
