My Wonky Sustainability Journey

I am writing to you, having been on the biggest learning curve and journey of discovery, both spiritually and intellectually and I want to thank you for your connection. It has not been forgotten!

If you follow me here on LinkedIn, you will have seen many pieces of the jigsaw I have been working on, the many scary and also inspiring topics which are close to my heart.

I will collaborate, elevate others, and share valuable insights, as we navigate the most testing of times in human history.

Don’t get me wrong, loads of people and businesses are smashing it, with an abundance of positive leaders and dedicated teams thriving, but many have pushed themselves to the limits, and maintaining good mental health proactively is so crucial. You know this, being successful at what you do, but it is getting harder for many. I hope you are in a good place and would love to hear what you have been up to.

My mental health ‘life support system’ has been a lifetime's passion, love for, and connection with nature. Our precious blue and green spaces. Inspired a 5-year-old pond dipping and finding miniature Dragons! With the help of nature and many inspirational people, who are working tirelessly, with vision, to support people and the planet to create positive transformation, I have just about stayed sane and made a lot more progress than I believed possible.

Collaboration and transparency are fundamental values for me and crucial to saving the planet. We all need to take part and businesses are key. All can make free and easy changes now to save money, strengthen and add resilience to brand, and join those leading the bright new future we still have a chance to co-create, together.

So, let’s get a flavour of what I want to share:?I will share diverse industry knowledge, content, and resources from Nature connectedness, Net Zero, Green Energy & Efficiency, Cultural Development; Business Transformation, to help you create and nurture havens for Biodiversity at home, on site and ways to start, connect or collaborate with local Community projects.

Most of modern culture, including business is based on spurious sales and marketing practices, with ‘Greenwashing’ now being a word many people know.

Knowing the truth in complex and vital markets, which are poorly regulated and lack transparency is the most valuable asset a business can gain.

My mission is, to tell the truth, help share the truth, elevate others and support all of us humans to accelerate positive change. I desperately want my 9-year-old daughter to live in a safe world, seeing awe inspiring life, and not sewage in our rivers and seas!

So, what journey have I been on and why should you spend your precious time checking out my content?

A long one! Well, I am 45 and most of my career has been spent chasing money, spending more, with little purpose. I didn’t have insight or access to knowledge and good mentors until I became self-employed and set up In-SynQ Solutions Ltd in 2016.

I embraced networking and LinkedIn.

Seek first to understand, then understood, my mantra.

I quickly realised there were many gaps in my knowledge and sought to further educate myself and build a network of expert specialists to support me, and this is how we connected.

I fell into the energy sector with a solopreneur business asking for my support in expanding and diversifying and knew instantly I would delve deeply. Energy is so fundamental to everything. Too often taken for granted, less so now the market failed, and costs have quadrupled for many businesses, who are the backbone of the UK economy!

Using 15 years of top level sales and marketing experience, I made huge strides and some industry old timers now call me an?energy expert!

The green energy transition reignited my flame of possibility that I could influence ‘saving the planet’.

Early this year I made strategic decisions and changes to reimagine how I and In-SynQ will operate in the energy sector, with a holistic review of the evolving market landscape leading to new independence, strengthening, and diversification of expert suppliers and specialist partners.

We are enthused to support organisations and their partners to gain market insights, optimise costs, quality and strategy, build transparency and trust, educate organisations, and upskill their teams, whilst providing dedicated expertise that is right for the organisation.

I will be sharing more specific posts about energy, so vital at home and work, and a big focus is on efficiency, nature based solutions, technology and behavioural change. The current energy crisis has made people scratch heads running out of adjectives, unprecedented and volatile now have new heights, which eclipse the industries murky past.

Sustainability is about so much more than Carbon or Energy!

Pushing solar and green energy ticked a box in my head and heart, but I was also conflicted and stuck in a lifestyle, which is difficult to not be sucked into,?enjoying the ever-cheaper steaks and salmon, apathetic, unaware, or too overwhelmed to discover the choices I could make,?I just knew things were wrong.

This changed during the pandemic.

I was lucky to be invited to some amazing online networks and engage with loads of interesting global experts via LinkedIn and discovery.

Eating less meat and composting were two changes I made quickly, and the rewards are invaluable. This led to an intense amount of reading, researching, and testing, with so many positive people and projects motivating me.

Back in 1995 when I was a na?ve 18 year old Environmental Biology undergraduate, I dreamed of working in conservation around the world.

This didn’t last long, with apathy at seeing the increasing planetary destruction, chasing survival with limited money, oh, and the allures of a burgeoning rave culture taking over.

I graduated, but only just, with a letter in my pigeonhole (the internet was new then) from a private investigator working on behalf of my Mum who I hadn’t seen for 10 years, arriving in a timely moment with the welfare team in two minds about whether to allow me to re-sit the second year!

So, I then needed a job. I fell into telesales making good money cold calling people for a free mortgage review appointment was seduced by the dark side, got promoted, became an expert trainer and recruiter and navigated a market crash and regulatory transformation, head hunted to build a 60 FTE company getting money back from the Banks that were ripping off the general public. I finally knew the truth about finance system, thankfully it has improved!

Then In-SynQ was born, and following incremental and more recent seismic transformation, not to mention a few grey hairs, we are excited to be launching the next chapter. With unique expertise and capabilities crossing strategic business consultancy, sustainability, energy, biodiversity, food systems, and circular economy - let’s explore how positive impacts can support regeneration! Deep energy sector knowledge and whole market capabilities are just part of the jigsaw. We have learned a great deal doing pro bono work over the years supporting, learning from, and collaborating with local charities, becoming a trustee, and now director of 2 non-profits.

This has been most rewarding, educational, and inspirational and adds depth to the insights when it comes to being sustainable, not just ticking boxes or wasting money, and avoiding greenwashing.

Grass roots, community led action is key, and local businesses can be catalysts?and create a net zero plan, ESG, or sustainability strategy which aligns with local needs is crucial and helps you and your colleagues to take action and ease climate anxiety.

Without a doubt, the world is changing at an ever-increasing pace, with the twenties, in the blink of an eye, having already seen the most rapid change and volatility across society, systems, and markets following a few decades of abundance, technological explosion, and growth.

The rest of the twenties will be the most crucial period for the future, the only option is action, empowered by informed choice, listening to science when the pandemic hit, we made some massive sacrifices together didn’t we?! The good news is that many choices are easy, more enjoyable, rewarding, and good for wealth and health!

This is why In-Synq was born.
