My wish list for Santa and thrilling New Year's resolution for 2017!
Counting down for Christmas means that it’s time to reflect over the passed year. What has been great? What has driven us forward? What can we do better? I can promise you that 2016 has challenged each and everyone at Net Insight. We broke new grounds. We launched new products. We integrated ScheduALL fully into Net Insight. We hired a lot of new staff; today 25% of the people on our payroll are new employees! We won several prestigious awards. We also launched a new vision that will continue to guide us as a company going forward!
We also did something remarkable that truly tested us as a collective. We entered into a new market segment, Live OTT, and launched Sye on the global market. We did all of the above while continuing to expand our core business and keeping an eye on the ball. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my fabulous colleagues. You are all superstars.
So, what’s next? Well, with Christmas around the corner it’s time to send off my wish list to the North Pole. Here is my top three!
1. Bring back engagement TV to the people! After years of binge watching on individual screens, Live OTT is the technology that can start bringing people back together. The audience will be able to watch live-streamed content and be more engaged at the same time. All screens in sync. Everybody engaged. Together. No more digital loners! Community TV is back!
2. Contribute to a better world. Nobody can do everything, but we can all do something. The fourth industrial revolution is upon us, driven by the ambitious millennials who demand that all companies have a purpose on the market and create “good profits”. No more greed. Less me, myself and I. I wish that more companies would get involved in the future generation and do more in order to create a better world.
3. Give a voice to the silent people. Loneliness, homelessness and mental illness are growing challenges in many communities and countries. These vulnerable people deserve a voice. I wish for a more caring community, where people care more about each other. Most of us live in a democracy where shared values include respect and humanity. The US election campaign was a low-water mark that I never want to see repeated.
I also have a thrilling New Year’s resolution. I promise to work harder than ever before to make sure that we as a company contribute to all of the above. Being the CEO of a company that drives the market, on a global scale, is never easy. The market is a moving target and that’s why it naturally takes longer time for new products to gain momentum. It also takes time to transform a company culture, change business models and build trusted relationships with new customer segments. It also takes time to get creative people to truly understand what the future of television will really look like.
So, my promise is to continue to drive forward and challenge the people around me. I also promise to do what I can to contribute to a better world.
Join the transformation. Join the future of television.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
